Greasy/Sweaty
« on: May 15, 2009, 10:28:15 AM »
Guys, my head gets pretty greasy, during the day.  I also tend to sweat quite a bit from my head, when it gets warm.  What have you used to combat a greasy, sweaty scalp?

Now that I'm SLY, the head sweat is very noticeable.  I was at a wedding in the Keys last weekend and people were looking at me like I had a condition.  It was little embarrassing.  Walking around with a sweat rag was a little cheesy too.  So, I'm looking for some advice.

Thanks,
Brad

Baldguyz head wipes....try it.  Your noggin will adapt to the excessive sweating...just be patient.

Thanks Timmay.  I have some of them, but never really used them.  So, I just used one at 1:10 PM.  I'll reply again, when the noggin starts getting greasy again.

I have to agree with Timmj....Bald Guyz head wipes are a great way to combat the sweat.  They run for $5 for a pack of 16 in my area.  I keep em with me wherever I go.  Also, you might want to try Coppertone sport sunblock with SPF 30.  They advertise it as "Utra sweat proof".  I posted about it last summer, and it works really well.  Plus you'll have that nice coppertone scent, like you just came off the beach.

Okay.  It's been an hour and a half since I used the wipe and I'm getting greasy again.  I'm inside, at a desk, with A/C running.  That seems pretty quick to me.

Do you guys know if there is anything that will dry the skin a bit or some kind of antiperspirant for the head?

Hmmmm, that raises an interesting question. Anti Perspirant doesn't work on the pits only!! IF you could find one that doesn't mess up the sly could be worth a try????  I'm a heavy sweater also but I find it much better to sweat with a bald head than it was when I had some hair left!!

agreed. when i used to sweat with hair it would make my head stink, and ide walk around with greasy damp hair for the rest of the day. when my bald head gets greasy in the summer its not a big deal to me. its the same as my face getting oily.

You could always move here to Alaska. The sun is shining, no clouds in the sky, a beautiful day with a slight breeze and it's only 45 deg. Not hot enough for you to sweat.  :D

The Anti Perspirant might work as long as you get one that doesn't leave any residue on your dome. If that doesn't work you can always get one of these

Not only is it solar powered but it comes with built in sunglasses

:*)) Be sure to post a pic once you get one  ;D

I hear what your saying about the greasy head issue...

I found I would get that if I used some sort of after shave or if after I shaved my head in the shower and I didn't rinse my head off and rub it down throughly while I was in there immedietly after shaving i would get the same effect.  Especially towards the back of my scalp for some reason and it would smear all over if I rubbed it.

So a thorough(poor spelling) rinse is very important, gotta make sure you get off all of the excess off, especially if your using shaving gel or oil.
Its good to be bald my friends :)

I sweat quite a bit also, the Head Wipes really help a lot with that. I now have my wipes on me whenever I go out because that greasy feeling really sucks. It's even worse when I just get done shaving, go to the gym/box/train, and my head gets extremely irritated due to too much sweating. I need to stop that.
