I did a little quick research on room rates in Morgan City for SBC2009.
Rates are for a single king sized bed non-smoking room. Here's what I found:
La Quinta - $94 per night plus taxes
Comfort Inn - $100 per night plus taxes
Days Inn - $73 per night plus taxes
From a quick look at the websites it looks like the La Quinta may be the nicest of the three but they all look more than acceptable.
Any of you local guys have a feeling for what may be the better of the three? -

Hey Mike...an Idea here. I often use this when I am on the road. Just go in and tell them you are on business travel. About everytime I need to rent a room, I get them $20 cheaper. All you need to give them is either a business card or just your employer. There are no checks on employment. Heck you could even say you are a representative of HeadBlade.

Laquinta and comfort are both pretty new. (built in the last couple years) days inn was redone not long ago as well. all three are pretty decent. days has a resturaunt on property.

One other thing to look into for rooms is what the 'Government' rates are. In the US they are VERY good and always a lot cheaper with those and I can get them. I'm also up for splitting a room with someone to cut down on costs. If anyone is interested in that let me know!

I already picked one up and have it in the box of my truck! Although, the problem now is that we may not be driving in my truck since Sean25 may be riding with us, and a large concrete curb could ruin the suspension of a car...
On a side note, I ALMOST bought a $400 giant stuffed moose for PBurke and am still tempted to get it...

just left the days inn. we got 68 buck a night. just mention slybaldguys convention when making reservations. local number is 985-384-5750. that is the best i can get. that rate is for two people. smoking rooms are available. (no extra cost) with your room key you can go to the gym around the corner to workout. included in the room. sports bar is across the street. resturaunt is pretty good and is on site. 68 is without breakfast. with breakfast is 75 bucks. still about 25 bucks cheaper than the others. pm me with any questions.

Awesome!!! Thanks Paul! I just woke up 20mins ago, saw this post and so I called right away and made a reservation!
So if anyone else is going, and will need to look into a room, I have reservations made for a standard smoking room with 2 beds.
It's all set under my name so anyone needing wanting to split with me to save $$ is welcome!

We could probably sneak 3 guys in that room make it a lot cheaper.. I'll take the couch since u older folks may have back/hip/arthritis problems. Ha
