Morning Radio
« on: April 29, 2009, 01:34:45 PM »
I'm not the type of guy that's into mainstream music or the radio, but on my way to class this morning something grasped my attention. Before I went to plug in my I-pod to my car, Z-100 was on, and that's right, the morning crew were discussing bald guys. Some of the callers rather irked me, as they explained being bald was embarrassing for them. Now I've never had to cope with hair loss, well not yet at least, but I'm sure when it first starts happening it's rather upsetting. My point is, a lot of these callers, a bunch being women surprisingly explained how their boyfriends/husbands did not want to go out, or wear hats to hide it and such. My question to these men is, why not shave it? One woman caller put a smile on my face as she replied bald is a great look for a guy. Anyway I just thought I'd share with you guys and see what you think about this. I wish people weren't so negative about their hairstyle, if only they knew how great it is to be bald.

I think that a'those" people that are negative about their hair style tend to just be negative about everything.
It's all about attitude!

ya i dont understand why bald is looked at as being negative. not necessarily "balding" just bald in general. it irritates me why people would rather lose their hair and be depressed about it than shave there head. what do they have against shaved heads?

Why do people get their hair dyed? Why do people have nose jobs, boob jobs, pastic surgery, tummy tucks?
It's personal preference...if people don't like your appearance. F**K 'EM.   @c3

Now, if they attack your character, come out swingin'.  :x!

BE BALD, BE PROUD.

Good point. If they attack my personal character I would definitely come out swinging. I'd also probably be holding a rather large weapon in my hand.

I would be armed with a bottle of Nair and start squirting them with it.  I just hope it happens while I am on a beach with some hairy dude sunbathing or something.  Then I would say..OK how about being bald now ..SLICK!?

I'm pretty sure it's a cultural thing. Most people historically perceive a guy with a shaved head as being "one rung down" on the social ladder. Probably because so many religious orders used head shaving as a sign of submission to a higher power. Remember that the original UK skinhead movement in the 60s was supposed to be a "working class" hairstyle.

Hopefully society is getting more enlightened, however slowly.
