about 6 months ago some of ya'll gave the courage to shave my head, and i loved it. well, on the back of my head i developed this horrable rash that looked awful! i could not get it to go away. so, i stopped shaving for a few days and the rash got some better, but as soon as i shaved again it was just as bad as before. therefore now 6 monthes later i have a 2 inch long 1960's flattop-- but no rash! i hate it!!!!!! any ideas or suggestions forme?
thanks!
I would have a rash on the back of my head when I put the clippers to it after having growing my hair out for a couple months. It was actually the hair growth that caused my scalp to itch; thus, having a nasty looking rash on the back of my head when I clipped it. I haven't had my hair long enough to do that, so I haven't had any skin irritation, since I started shaving my head. But maybe you just have what I have (except with shorter hair). Did you shave every or every other day? I can see how you couldn't if the rash was bad enough. So, maybe every other day?
BReady
i did shave every day most of the time, but even when i skipped a day or two it right back full force.
What razor were you using? What shaving cream were you also using? I have bad results from the fusion and mach3 I break out all over!
I had the same problem as both hotrn and BReady. When I first started shaving I broke out in what looked like a rash but it was razor burn from using a bad razor and all that. Then when I didnt shave for about a week my scalp was really really itchy and I had tons of dandruff even though I washed my hair like normal. As soon as I shaved the itchy scalp went away again.
Let us know what you were using to shave. Your routine could be the issue.
When i used to shave using a clipper on '0' setting, I would always get rashes and pimples, and used to think it was because I hadnt cleaned the blades properly: not sure though.
When I used an electric shaver I got the same thing, and thought it was the same reason, but even when I took off the foil regularly and washed it I still got spots/rashes.
Since I've been using a razor the rashes have vanished, and I only get very occasional spots (more often they are insect bites etc). MachIII caused a few spots, but the Fusion hardly any. I think the main secret is to use a very new sharp blade. After about 12 - 14 shaves I have to change blades, or else the irritation comes back.
i have shaved with headblade, mach3, fusion, and i even tried the rolling razor and i still got rash fron them all. i used barbasol, fusion, mach3, and the old soap & brush to shave with. i've put aloe vera, rubbing alcohol, fusion aftershave moisturiser, and ice on my head. i've tried shower and sink shaving, but yet and still nothing i did made the rash go away except to regrow my hair!!!
pick up a bottle of headslick, make sure to use shaving brush.
