New to head shaving
« on: April 25, 2009, 06:35:08 AM »
Hi Sly guys. I'm brand new to head shaving. I'm 30 years old, live in Florida, and been getting into fitness lately. For some reason I've always wanted to shave my head. I've telling myself that when I lose weight and get down to 180 pounds then I'll shave my head. Well last week I weighed in at 180 and off it went. I gota say, so far I love it.

Being new, however, I think I'm totally screwing things up. I'm cluless about good technique and exfoliating, and mosturizing, and all this jazz. I admit I haven't browsed much in the forum yet, and I know there's a whole section awaiting me about routines and such, so I'm excited.

Any how, I been using a Schick Quattro and some shaving Gel. So far I've been shaving every other day. I used Baby Oil once to shave but feel I got closer and less gunk with Gel. My concerns are that I'm over doing it, trying to get that ultra close, smooth feeling. I think I'm passing the same areas dozens of times and maybe hundreds of strokes altogether. I really like that really smooth feel, but I fear I'm obsessing over it already. I've some razor burn on the lower back of the dome and some pimples on the sides. Not too bad though, really. But I'll have to learn to take it easy, I guess.

I'm thinking of getting more blades for my Fusion since I see it's so popular. Unfortunately I just bought some Quattro blades but I do like this razor on face more then I liked the Fusion on the face.

I see there are some good products and things to use for head shaving but to be honest I'd like to keep things SIMPLE and CHEAP.

I want to get a good routine eventually, and I know with this site and you Sly guys, I'll be just fine.

I don't have a picture yet but I'm gonna get one up ASAP. I just realized I don't have a digital camera anymore, and my cellphone cam is down. But a friend of mine has a pic of my dome that I'll work on getting.

Hey Raul!

Congrats man on the weight loss, working out, and especially the newly shaved dome!

You can keep the dome looking real nice for very little $$, but you'll do yourself a big favor by investing in a few products.  You know to read up in "your shave routine" on the Head Shaving board.

Welcome to SBG, bro.

Welcome Raul, good to hear you love the smooth look.

Plenty of info and tips to be found, and if you can give the HeadBlade a try I would recommend it. Just follow the instructions.
There are plenty of razor and blade combo's to try as well.

Experiment, and enjoy your shaving.      O0

Thanks for the great welcoming. I just bought the headblade sport and some bald guyz moisture gel. I wanted to get either some headblade shaving gel or bald guyz but walgreens was out of both. Must be a lot of Sly guys in my neighborhood! I'll post up how it goes with the HeadBlade. And I should get a picture up today.   ^-^
