Hey guys, been lurking here for a few weeks and finally decided to join. I'm not a head shaver ... YET.. but am 20 years old sporting a norwood 3 which is also thinning... (damn it gets me down.. so much) and shaving is starting to become a real option for me! Just don't know how on earth I would look.. I'm hoping this forum might give me the inspiration / courage to do it. I have to say.. From all the posts I have read, you guys seem like a top set of dudes always encouraging and keen to help out which is something you don't get on many (if any) other boards on the net.
Anyway I hope to become a part of the board so wanted to introduce myself and say hi!

welcome traveller, you have come to the right place.
Just one tip, avoid all discussion boards that tell you life ends the day you lose hair. On the contrary, that's when life begins. It gives you a chance to love yourself unconditionally and not simply for a few hairs on your head. I hope you stick around and enjoy this forum.

Welcome! I tell everyone that the day I shaved my head was the best that I had felt in a long time. It's empowering! I shaved my head, after joining this forum and reading all of the encouragement. This is a great group of guys.
My advice: Don't be ashamed of losing your hair. Embrace it and run with it. Since shaving my head, I feel more confident and I get more attention from women than I have ever gotten in my life. Coincidence? I think not.
Try trimming it down shorter and shorter. That will give you a good idea of how you'll look SLY.

Welcome, get yourself a comfortable chair, don't beat yourself up--losing your hair is not a disease, it isn't terminal, and it doesn't affect your value as a person. Ask all the questions you feel you need to know--they've all been asked before by every guy w/ male pattern baldness that has decided to answer nature by getting ahead of the game. We're all going to be behind you and you'll be assured that all the conflicts, etc. that are going through your mind and negatively influencing your existence have been experienced by lots of other guys.
We're here to help, but honestly--we're all going to advocate that you at least try a clean shaved head. It works for us, and we sincerely believe that it will work for you.

Welcome to SBG! I'm sorry, but I don't even know what a norwood 3 is. Either way, my advice is to shave it now. Don't read anymore posts looking for a reason to do it. The reason is that you will regret not shaving your head NOW when you eventually do shave your head.
I'm dead serious with this post, but if you need more reason here's another:
If you shave now, I doubt anyone will remember that you were "going" bald. They'll just think you shaved because you liked the style or for whatever reason you tell them.

Tyler is dead on!! I cannot tell you how many people say to me, "I didn't even know that you were losing your hair." And then they say, "you look great with a shaved head."
Great comment, Tyler. You could not be more correct.
