Camping Season is here!
« on: April 18, 2009, 01:21:16 AM »
One of the great things we like to do as a family is go camping.  We are packing up the trailer for our first trip of the year.  We are heading over to one of our favorite state parks here in Georgia.

Are there any other SLY Campers out there?

Yep, I go camping every year.  Though, it's typically in the winter because that's when I'm allowed to shoot the elk while I'm camping.

Camping is something I do now to accomplish smething else like I like as fishing, rafting, etc.  I enjoyed camping as a kid but sleeping out with the elements got old over the years from being in the Army. Admittedly, civilian camping is far different than tactical sleeping, eating, etc .

Kids have a blast camping though. It's fun watching them have a great time.

Yes. I am just about to try pitching my new 3 bedroom tent for the first time. I should be ready for season 2010

We tent camped for 10 years.  The tents got progressively larger.  Then last May we found a used trailer (2004) that was in great condition.  The guy didn't want it anymore so we took the plunge!  We love the air conditioning most of all.  There is no TV in it so we still "camp", we just get to sleep inside now.

I am so excited!

Wow, I'm impressed with how many of you guys camp!  We love it but heah in Maine we just lost the snow so it's a few more weeks for the season to open. But, we're all set to go for the week prior to Memorial Day.We have a vintage Coleman Colorado. lt has a bed and a dinette but that's it. No stove or fridge or anything like that. We both absolutely love it! We usually go for a week early in the season and another in the fall. There's a possibility we'll go for a weekend here and there.

Now what I want to know is what everyone does about the dome and the bugs. We go through a spell here where they are reallly bad! I don't like loading the bug dope on my head so I just tend to  wear a cap the entire time. Spray the had then put it on. Works pretty well.

This the only time I get to see what my head really looks like. 8 or 9 days without a shave, it get's pretty long!

I love camping. When I was younger I used to do it all the time but the last couple years I was so busy with work I didnt have time. I slept on the trampoline one night last summer which was fun.

This summer I plan on camping alot. Even at the lake cabin we have a tent platform up at the top of the mountain and we also have a sleeping deck under the cabin where we just roll out the sleeping bags and make a small fire.

I'm usually nowhere near hot water or an electrical outlet when I camp, so I usually forget about shaving.

My family and I are supposed to go camping with my wife's hula group, but we found out that we have a timeshare down the street and opted for that since it would be hard to camp with our 18 month old.

Some buddies from high school and I go camping every winter around Christmas.  The colder the better (it's usually in Arkansas, but still pretty cold).  It's the only time you'll be drinking beer and it gets colder as you drink it.

No such thing as camping season Slick!!! It's all year!

Not to harp on the benefits of being sly too much, but it's great for camping/outdoors activities.
It looks the exact same and doesn't get all matted down and greasy when camping.

I have plans for it in a couple months. I never did like trailer camping, and if I can get away without using a tent I will. My stepfather has 300-400 acres so as long as I have a compass and map I am set. This year I'm hoping to get hammocks and bug nets in place of a tent, but the best thing is that there is a big river that splits the land in two and there is some of the best fishing there. I'm pretty jacked for it

I was never much for trailers either..... until I reached my mid forties and realized that sleeping on the ground makes all my old sports injuries hurt like Hell. :*))
