Welcome to me!
« on: April 17, 2009, 07:59:44 PM »
Well, here I am.  I've been a member for several days and already chatting away with some of you guys in the forums.  SaintC says I need to post an intro here so, I jumped!  haha

I've been shaving my head for about a month now.  Love the feel.  I have several friends who have slick heads and been like that for some time.  So they have been my inspiration for making the leap.  That and the fact that I've been contemplating shaving my head for about a year.  I've buzzed my head for the last several years.  My hairline has receded since college and the last year or so started thinning on top.

Like I said, I'm new to shaving.  So I'm still finding my method of madness.  I think I've determined I like shaving at the sink.  I definitely get a better facial shave there.  I don't find it takes any more time than the shower plus I save on water.  I shave my face (for the last year) with a Merkur double-edge safety razor.  Been using a Schick Quatro on my head and don't like it.  Tried the Headblade and didn't like it (on the sides of my head).  The fusion seems to rock.  I may try the Mach III turbo just b/c I have one laying around since I used to use it before the DE and I still have some blades too.  I kind of want to try the DE on my head but a little apprehensive about it.

I like the headslick.  I just bought some Shave Secret oil yesterday.  Tried it for the first time today.  So still not sure about it yet.  I like the headblade matte too.  I've been having some problems with razor bumps.  I saw from a lot of guys in these forums that they recommend Thayers Witch Hazel.  So I ordered some.  In the meantime I'm using some rubbing alcohol (that was also recommended) and that really seems to be drying up the bumps without drying my oily head.

I've definitely gotten a lot of comments.  Even had an old widow at church that wanted to rub it.  My kids thinks my head is funny but they like it too.

Well, I guess that's about it.

Thanks to all of you that have been so helpful so far!

Welcome to the site!!  O0  I seen that you said that you didnt like the headblade, because of the sides not being smooth enough, try turning the headblade around and go from the of the back of the sides of your head to the front towards your eyebrows. Then once you do that repeat the process except do it how you are now go front to back.  Make sure you have enough shave cream/gel on your head after each pass!  O0

WElcome bro!  Hey you didnt mention if you tried the "ice cube" rub down after you shave.  Give that a try.  It is especially nice in the summer time after a hot shower.

Welcome dude. I have never tried the headblade myself but I have to say the Mach III is all I'll ever need, as long as I have a fairly fresh blade. You just have to go in slow straight lines front to back to the crown. Then back to front to the crown. I usually go up from the tops of my ears to the sagital line next. Afterwards feel with your finger tips in every possible direction after that to find stubblies and hit them. I prefer the shower because it helps soften the stubble a bit, but I've never been an in front of the mirror shaver anyway.
When I die, I want to go peacefully like my Grandfather did, in his sleep -- not screaming, like the passengers in his car.
