the oil and stubble makes a hell of a mess in the sink!

Speaking of the olive oil in the sink, i remind all that shave in shower like I do, to be extremely careful with the stuff on the floor of the shower or tub. IT can be extremely slick!
Wanted to add that I've had a lot of success recentle with vitamin E oil also. The brand I buy has a little bit of lemon oil in it also. I original bought it to shave with but have also been using it on the scar left by a recent operation on my chest/shoulder/bicep. The oil really seems to help soften the scacar and stop the "pulling" around the scar area.On my head and face, it makes a great shaving creme mixed with regular bar soap. I rub it on my head first then just put a thin film of regular bar soap. Of course, it works great with HeadSlick also.
I've been keeping my razor in olive oil too. It's been working great at preserving my razors One thing I don't think anyone has touched on yet is making sure to use Extra Virgin Olive Oil as compared to other kinds. The video below explains why.http://www.videojug.com/film/how-to-shave-with-olive-oilhttp://www.greenlivingtips.com/articles/4/1/Conserving-disposable-razors.html
Hey Ryan thanks for the update It's too early for me to report any big news but I am confused a bit about the factthat storing my mach 3 blade in olive oil makes it more difficult to glide on my dome. Maybe olive oil has nothing to do with it. In any case, if I can save $90-$130 a year on blades then I will do it,..............no matter how big a mess it creates.
Thanks for the tip Tank! I've been storing my blade in the oil for about two weeks and the results are great. I shave in the shower, so cleanup is nothing. There is one drawback, if I get the olive oil on my face it makes my skin break out, but if I shave my head before my face, then no oil gets on my face. I don't use the oil to shave, just to store it, but of course some gets on my head until I rinse the blade after a few passes. I've done it for two weeks (minus a three day weekend on the road) and normally I would have switched the blade by now. My theory is that it stops corrosion, keeping the blade sharp longer. Swords and guns are shipped and stored covered in grease. It makes sense. Thanks again. I'll post my results on the board after another few weeks.

Are you making to sure rinse the olive oil off the blade first before shaving? I could see how having the blade full of oil would clog easily if you didn't rinse it prior to shaving.
