Man...I just made this same mistake.  Didn't think anything about protection, just went out to the state park and cooked out and cooked my head!  No Bien!

Here's the easy way to assure the situation is covered.  Get yourself a good moisturiser with at least an SPF of 15.  Use it every day and you're good for indoors or outdoors.  If you plan to be out in the sun several hours (especially in the summer months) kick it up to SPF30.
