Fresh Skin
« on: April 02, 2009, 03:31:52 PM »
Howdy, I'm from up here in the great northwest in Washington. I just cut off my 1 and a half foot ponytail and went to skin. The first time I razored my noggin i was loving it. Then after 3 days in a row shaving it, my scalp just couldn't handle it and it began to get irritated. So now to avoid daily shaving, I have purchased a waxing kit, and despite all the negative i have read about it, I'm letting my hair grow a bit so I can rip it all out. I plan on getting it on video and posting it so everyone can enjoy watching the excruciating pain that I'm expecting.

I'm looking forward to learning the ways of the dome

Welcome and whoa, that's going to be one rough task.  Maybe you should check into the routines and other threads first to see if a less drastic means could work.

Welcome to SBG!  Good luck with the waxing.

welcome Wildo!!  Shave every other day if your skin is irritated.
Not only that but I would suggest that you use some Bald Guyz moisture gel after you are finished with shaving, it practically eliminates the irritation you feel.   Finally, get your hands on a quality shave gel/cream and feel the difference.

Hey Wildo!

Welcome.  You are one brave dude to be thinking about waxing the dome.  Good luck.  If you go through with it, consider doing a video and putting it on youtube.  I want to hear the scream.

On the other hand, you might want to consider some of the less drastic approaches put forward on this board.  The guys here have lots of shaving wisdom.  You should listen to them.

Wildo, welcome to Sly Bald Guys.  The Sly look is great for you, especially with the beard.

I want to say one thing about the plan for waxing:  Don't do it!

You're new to head shaving.  Your scalp is going to be irritated at first.  A lot of guys on this forum shave every other day because of shaving irritation.  I personally find I get smoother shaves on an every other day routine.  Prep and after shave care are also imperative.  It will take a while for your scalp to toughen up.

Read some of the threads on shave routines before you consider anything as drastic as waxing.
