Ides of March!

Well, I always wanted to try the bald look. I've sported long hair for the past 15 years. I always figured it would be neat to go from one extreme, long hair, to the other, no hair....but I was always too chicken to cut my locks.
But I'd talk about doing it....and eventually I talked to the right person. Talking with a coworker, I asked how weird it would be if I showed up to work bald. I've told her it's something I've been wanting to do for years. Well then she informed me about the St. Baldrick's Foundation. Now, if I'm going shave off my locks...might as well do it for a great cause! It seem perfect! If I didn't like the look of being bald...I was still doing it for a great cause!
Well...on March 15th it was, good bye long hair, hello bald!
I LOVE IT!
The first night was a little rough....but I got over it. I've gotten nothing but positive reactions. I mean, I don't think I've ever been called sexy, till I went bald! And it makes me look younger, and it's more stylish then the long hair I've been sporting for all those years. And I was able to raise over $1600 for the foundation.
But I am loving it so far.
I have yet to give myself a real satisfyingly smooth shave. Like when I rub my hand front to back...it's a little sand paper-esque....but back to front...it's all smooth. And some days it's the opposite! I know with time I'll get better with it. I've shaved it 6 times since the 15th. I use a Gillette Fusion Power, and some kind of Edge gel and finish it off with vitamin E oil (it was just something I've had laying around the house).
So, that's my into. I was so shocked to see this bald guy community online....but I guess I really shouldn't have been, knowing how powerful the internet is. So yeah, I've been lutking the past couple days and figured I'd sign up and pop in!

Great look, great reason--congrats, it's a two-fer.
Smooth shaves? Look in the section on "routines" and there are lots of tips on getting a really great long lasting smooth dome. I'm a Fusion guy too, I love it. There are Headbladers here too--we're pretty open to anything as long as it gets you where you need to be, baldwise.
Good to have you here.

Looks great! I like that you participated in St. Baldrick's also. I wish that I had thought of that, before shaving my head. My friend's son is participating and has raised almost $400. I gave him $50 myself, just so that we'd have another Sly Guy on the block.
By the way, the ladies love the bald look. I get more attention now than I have gotten in a long time.

What an awesome way to go bald bro...and it suits YOU well!
As a 15 year headshaver, I have gotta say I find it the case that long haired dudes always do well by going to the farthest extreme from long hair...slick bald...it's got an edge just like the long hair did!
Very nice bald head/goat combo you got there!!!

Hey, thanks a lot guys! The St Baldrick's event was such a great experience. It was awesome having the support of family and friends and helping out the cause. I don't know any children with the cancer, but off the top of my head, I can name at least 10 adults in my life effected by it. I'm so grateful to that coworker that informed me of the charity. Cause for one thing, I talked about doing the bald look....but I probably wouldn't have done it any time soon. Without that event, I'd probably still be walking around as a bald man trapped in a long hair's body!
But man, this site is an awesome cornucopia of shaving goodness! I need to write some of the advice down! I was shopping over the weekend, and I was thinking, "What was that one exfoliator that one dude was talking about?" And then I was like, "Am I really buying an exfoliator?" Yep...it's a whole new world!
