I have this damn thing on my home computer and Norton (which I've paid for the last ten years) wants $99 to remove it for me.
Can anyone tell me an easy way to remove it or suggest a new antivrus/spyware program that will remove it?
I'm done with Norton........... -

From what I've gathered about this virus it can prevent you from running certain programs. If that's the case, boot into safemode and run them.
What kind of anti-virus are you using? I can suggest the best free and pay ones if you like. -

I dont know if it will work in this case but theres a program (vundofix.org) that searches for the malicious stuff pretty quickly...

Go to http://www.malwarebytes.org/ and download and run the free trial version of the antimalware this is one of the best out there. A friend of mine works for the State of VA, in IT, can use almost anything, and recommends it.

Thanks guys.... I'm going to try some of your suggestions.
I looked on the web yesterday on how to remove it and the answers I found seemed pretty involved.
I'm running Norton utilities Antivrus..but I'm done with thema fter this.
I did a little reserach a few months back and "Bit Defender" looked like it might be a good choice.... but I'm open to suggestions. -

Hey mike, i'm not too sure on the whole removal part of those trojans :S, but for a good and free anti virus i would recommend anti VIR, or even Avast. Avg is free aswell i think, but i don't rate it as highly as VIR. Avast is also very good, but uses more resources than the others. Also spybot search and destroy, and Ccleaner do wonders. Hope that helps, and you manage to fix your rig soon.

Ccleaner is a good tool, but doesn't clean viruses
It still amazes me everytime I do a format, and see how much it finds.

Oh yea you can do it manually step by step,, SCREW that, Malwarebytes is a button push,, as are most others. Norton is good,, but too overprotective for me,, kind of acts like Vista,, asking for EVERYTHING to be confirmed.

Best free product for home users I have found and tested is AVG. Free basic for home users, and it updates automatically daily. Here is the link http://free.avg.com/
It will detect your trojan and vault it when installing. You can try to heal files or just move them to the vault and then clean the vault later.
I also would run Spybot with it. You will need to do a manual check with it about once a week or sooner if you suspect spyware, but it works really well. Remember to update the definitions before your weekly update. here is that link http://www.safer-networking.org/en/mirrors/index.html
I have tried some others but found this combo works really well. Best thing you can do is remove all the Norton crap off your machine, I have never liked any of their products....ANY including Ghost! -

Ugh I hate Norton also, and the best part of Spybot S&D is teatimer, it's very useful.
