do you trust sunscreen? does it prevent "pain"?

A simple yes or no to either or both questions would be good.
Ok I remember last summer I had not shaved yet and I have to tell you guys that my scalp would hurt when
I went outside.  I didn't apply sunscreen because I had hair on my head.

Will sunscreen on a bald head eliminate that pain I got from exposure to sun?  The pain came because I had thin hair.  Back as a teenager I had really thick hair and I went out in the sun 6 hours a day no problem. 

My other question is, do you trust sunscreen will take care of your bald head?  I am a little afraid of getting skin cancer or something.

Yes sunscreen is an absolute necessity for the warmer months of the year.  You were probably getting sunburnt with how thin your hair was, so thats why it hurt.  Try to get a sunscreen with spf at the minimum of 15, but 30 will probably be better. I use banana boat sport sunscreen with an spf of 30 or headblades sunscreen with an spf of 15. One thing to keep in mind the more you sweat after a few hours you will want to reapply the sunscreen. I have burnt my head a few times and it is not fun.

I was thinking of wearing a hat just to be safe but I need to show my bald dome.
It's not fun wearing a hat when you are bald.    But thanks for the tips, good to hear that sunscreen can prevent the burn.

Sunscreen will work.  If you are in the sun a long time you need to re-apply once an hour or whenever you towel it off.

I recommend you wear sunscreen everyday.  Apply more often on the sunny days.  If your head is hurting from the sun then you need to get out of the sun or put on a hat.

i never wore sunscreen on my head during the summer? although i started shaving my head in august when it started cooling down but still. i got sunburn on my face badly but for some reason i never got it on my head. i wouldnt mind a little sun on my head though. i want to even out my "shave" tone anyways. im pasty white and my heads so white its almost transparent lol.

I tried every sunscreen made before creating Bald Guyz Sunscreen and ALL of them would sweat off the bald head leaving me unprotected and I would burn. So in working with a chemist we created a sunscreen that has a high SPF, 30+, that protects against both UVA & UVB damage, moisturizes and can wear it all day. This allowed me to not wear a hat for the first time and let the head tan without burning.

Now I know that all of you our there use different products and that's great as long as you use SOMETHING to protect your head.

We are outside a lot in the summer and I wear sunscreen all the time. There is nothing worse than a burnt head.

Yes.  I usually wear the coppertone or store-brand equivalent spray-on with SPF 30 or higher.

I usually skate(board) most mornings before work and in summer it gets pretty hot and bright pretty early in Dallas.  I spray my head, face and neck, and I didn't have any problems when I used it.

This past week, I forgot sunscreen and went to the park on an overcast day.  I didn't feel the sunburn until after I'd showered and shaved.  I was only out from 8:00 AM to 9:30 AM and that was enough time for the Texas sun to burn me.

I also occasionally wear a hat when I'm out and at the park - usually to shield my eyes from the harsh morning glare (I can't skate with shades - tried and the shadows play tricks on my eyes).  Wearing a hat and being bald (or sly) is no big deal.  Check Omar Hassan.  Usually wears a trucker-cap when he skates.

Try wearing something with an open weave made from natural fibre  I have some "poor boy" hats made from hemp as well as your traditional straw hats I rock around town occasionally, you don't want something that will trap moisture to your scalp.
