Strange news of the day
« on: March 01, 2009, 08:02:38 PM »
Did anyone see the news story on TV this morning about the fitness trainer in Australia whose New Year's resolution was to gain 100 pounds so he could better relate to the struggles of his overweight clients?  He's gained 60 pounds since January 1st -- that's a pound a day!!

This is all I could find on a quick Google search.  I wish the before pictures were there.  He looked like the guy in the Bowflex commercials.  Just goes to show how fast all that hard work can be undone.   :/O

I did see that on drudgereport.com

They did have before and after pics on The Sun in the UK.  I don't know the link though.

In the first week of a diet and I've got to look at that, OY! That guy gained weight, but lost his marbles, now soft in the head :D and gut.  Obviously his before picture is after dieting to gain definition, but even then it's disgusting.  He won't be able to relate to sh_t, until he's trying to lose that tire, then he'll relate.  That's a sick find, a really sick find, particularly during Lent.

Many actors in Hollywood also add extra pounds just to get a role in a movie. The most recent being Ryan Gosling. In his case the gain backfired. Gosling was preparing for a movie role that required him to be a middle-aged dad. After growing out his hair, and adding over 40 pounds to his normally lanky frame, he was axed by director, Peter Jackson for appearing too average.

Ouch!!

Renee Zelweger (sp?) gained a lot of weight for the Bridget Jones movie and I believe she had much harder time losing it than she'd expected.

This trainer will probably shed the pounds faster than the average person can, but I think it's a really stupid thing to do.

He may want to relate to his clients, but he's probably going to kill his business.  :/O

Agonizing over what cannot be is an insult to what is.

He did say he's getting some odd looks in the gym when he's telling his clients to do pushups, squats, etc.

At my gym, a while back, they hired a trainer who was considerably overweight.  He didn't last very long.  I don't think many people would sign up for his services.  And why would they?  "Physician, heal thyself" was my first thought when I saw him.

I'm thinking who in their right mind would sabotage their health for such a llamo reason. I think he did this stunt just to enjoy pigging out on foods that he normally didn't eat. No way would I risk my health for that junk.

Probably.  But a really dumb one, IMO.
