shiney/oily scalp

i just started shaving my head and am love the look and feel. however i occasionally get a problem shininess. under the lights at my school or work, my scalp can look pretty bright and i was wondering if there were any particular products to control that

Try "Matte for Men" or "HeadLube Matte".

I'ma fan of the shiny look myself...... I think that actually comes with a little time for many.

The shine is caused from your head getting oily.  Just use a wipe or wet towel to wipe it down.  This will help alot.

yeah i dont mind it too bad. but throughout the day i notice that it can get a bit too shiney from the oils. im really just looking for something to have on hand at home to put on before a date or something to delay that if i have to look especially presentable.

get some head wipes from Bald Guyz or Headblade. 

They will help with the oils through out the day.

If you get oily scalp it's most likely because your shave gel is not good.  I had that experience with the gillette shave gel.  Once I switched to Bald Guyz shave gel I never have to worry about it.   Just a tip.   Give Bald guys shave gel a chance (or perhaps headslick would also work).

Headslick and baldguyz should be part of any shaving ritual.  For me it does not matter which gel I use, I still have some oil buildup through out the day.  I usually wipe my head down with some baldguyz headwipes.  I will be getting some headblade headwipes within the next week.  If you have real issue with an oily scalp try using some stridex or clearasil acne pads try the regular strength at first.

maybe it's because I'm in Canada lol, you can't get any oil built up if you are freezing to death.

Shine can be an issue if you don't like it.  I would use the Baldguyz headwipes, I have oily skin and they work for me.  I like them to clean my head during the day.  When the wind blows 40 mph here, I will notice sand stuck to my head after being on the car lot!  LOL  It knocks down the shine a bunch, but I prefer shiny and will use Headlube Glossy most days after the Baldguyz head moisturizer.

An oily scalp has nothing to do with the type of shaving products you use, it's a product of oil producing glands. Sheesh.

For the OP question, I use the oil absorbing sheets you can find at any pharmacy or Wal Mart or anywhere else. They're usually blue in color and made by a number of companies including Clean and Clear, Bjore..etc. They work great, and just take a quick 2 minute trip to the bathroom or somewhere private and you just lightly apply the sheet and it soaks up excess oil/grease.

You could be right...........but somehow magically when I changed shave gel/cream magically the oil went away???
The only explanations for that would be (1) God magically cured my head and took the oil away the day I used bald guyz shave gel (2) weather got colder so the oil decided to go away completely  (3) washing my head with bald guyz head wash and shampoo took the oil away

I don't know which explanation is correct, but I have to tell you the change in the oil level on my scalp was big.  So I don't know, maybe I'm a crazy mathematician, but hey the change in shave gel and head wash did the trick for me.
With gillette series shave gel/cream I was embarrassed to show my bald head because it looked too "oily".

I think you are right.  The only problem is I will never know.  I started using the Bald Guyz head wash and Shave Gel on the same day, and ever since I have been using both.   So, one way to find out would be to stop using one for some time and see if there is a difference.   Then I could do the same thing with the other.
If it's not the shave gel that did the miracle for me, it has to be the head wash and shampoo.  Weather or temperature or whatever could not have been the cause for the change because the removal of oil is significantly lower.  Right now, I hardly have any oil on my scalp, it's not too dry either.  It's just perfect.
