Good: My daughter made honor roll for the 2nd trimester of 5th grade with a 4.0 GPA (5th grade is the first year that letter grades are assigned). My 3rd grade son also continues to do quite well in school.

Bad news: I have to pay to take them out to celebrate.

Agonizing over what cannot be is an insult to what is.

Good: My wife and I have a closing date for our new house! (3/26)

Bad: We are now jumping in to the frightening world of buying and owning a house when everyone else is losing theirs.

Good: I just found out there's a 4th grade sports team called the Hatchets.

Bad: I'm too old to sign up.
