1st firefighter test today

So guys, today I took my first firefighter test for a job at a nearby city.  Today was the written portion of the exam--it was 100 multiple choice questions.

370 people showed up to test for the 8 positions open.
The top 55 candidates will be selected to move on from the written exam to the physical exam.
If you pass the physical, you will be interviewed.


I think that the test went pretty well--and I'll find out by Monday if I passed!

I got my test results.  I didn't make it to the second phase of testing.

Oh well--not a big deal.  It was my first time testing for a city, so I'm not too surprised that I didn't pass.  There will be more tests in the future...

Took my second test a few weeks ago.  I passed the written test and moved on to the physical test.

I didn't think I was going to make it to my physical test because I was out on tour fighting fires.  As luck would have it, my crew rolled into town the day of the physical exam.  I left base a bit early and barely made it in time to my physical test.  I showed up having not shaved for 13 days, not showered for 6, and in my wildland firefighter gear.  I ended up doing the physical portion of the test in my Whites boots instead of my running shoes because I didn't have them with me.

The test was a timed test--pass/fail.  Each candidate had 15 minutes to complete the test.  Exhausted after 13 days of work (each consisting of a 16 hour work shift), I completed the physical test in 9:11!

I am moving on to the interview process in a week or so.  Wish me luck.
