oddly enough, I have been thinking about this a bit lately too...I think it is very evident when somebody is arrogant. There is nothing wrong with having an ego, because it is essential in having a better quality of life. I think when people condescend others because they view themselves to be a better person is a sign of arrogance, as well as showing no consideration to others and their feelings/ego.

I think arrogance is a  bad thing and causes all sorts of trouble.  Wanting to look good and like your appearence I don't think is bad as loing as it is not taken to extremes.
