color changing strip on your razor.
« on: February 10, 2009, 07:52:41 PM »
do you guys follow that "color changing strip" on your razor when determining when to change your blade, or do you go by experimenting. i found that the strip seems to be completely innacurate. today i changed the blade before shaving and by the time i was done shaving the strip had already faded to white (meaning it needs to be changed). it pissed me off because im spending so much money on blades and i only got 1 shave out of it. should i test it out to see if its TRULY dull, risking getting razor burn all over my head, or should i listen to the strip and just change the brand new blade throwing money down the toilet lol.

does anyone else get innacurate readings from their "color changing strip"?

some days i can get 6-7 shaves before it changes color while others i can only get 1 or 2. my hair wasnt even long either. last time i shaved was 2 days ago like usual.

My strip fades after a couple of days.  But I consistenly get 2 weeks out of my blades.  I don't think it means anything.

LOL,that strip is a joke. They claim you can get a month out of a fusion, then they tell you to trash it when the strip fades. That strip fades after the 3rd shave with me.

Is that strip not supposed to be some kind of moisturising thing. I usually ignore it

I used to watch the strip to see when it faded, but it's useless because it fades after the second or third shave.  In fact, i think it depends how long or how often you put it in water.  The dye comes out and then it obviously fades.  Just ignore it.  As long as the blade is still shaving properly then that's all you need to go by. 8)

I've noticed that if I've been lazy and haven't shaved for a couple of days, that I can put on a brand new blade, and by the time I finnish the first pass on my face and head, according to the strip indicator, I should change my blade. That means I would have to change my blade atleast twice for one complete face and head shave. At the current cost of blades, I'd have to stop shaving all together.

Glad to hear your comments.  Being fairly new to the head shaving routine, I've watched the strip and disposed of them when they turn white. I'll try using them for more than one shave.  The cost was killing me!

Same here, that strip has no bearing on the sharpness of your blade. Go by how it feels.

Just do what I do. Shave your legs first if you don't get razor burn on them then shave your head  ;D.

It has got to be just a way to make you buy razors more often. That puny strip is useless for lubricating your head anyway.
