Kudos to everyone in the SBG community!
« on: February 09, 2009, 11:09:31 PM »
Although my posts have been limited on the SBG i frequently visit the website and I read a lot of other peoples posts and It's great to read such positive and supportive comments, and I like the way everyone continues to support newcomers to the forum no matter how repetitive the advice given seems to be. The truth is, a lot of people come here with the fear that their balding will inhibit their chances with the ladies, or feelings of inferiority to those with hair. But the character of all the people on this site all but dispel any of those myths. I think any woman would be lucky to have a guy with as much insight and perspective as the guys on this site! It's the positivity of everyone in the SBG community that keeps me coming back, not just for matters of physical appearance, but general life advice.  Well done fellas!

i agree. its a misconception and an ignorant thing, but i know for a fact that young girls and guys that have hair think that just cuz someones losing their hair hes so much different than them. they automatically classify him as boring, bland, or dry with no sense of humor etc. its crazy how it works but thats how it is. when they think of the word "bald" they automatically connect it to the word "old" which isnt even the case.if only people would go on this site they would actually realize how foolish they sound. i myself never realized how awesome bald guys are until i joined this site.

This site was the clincher for me. I was contemplating on prolonging the "battle" with drugs and went to some forums but most of the people there were just plain depressing, bitter, or even if they were cool guys, they were never satisfied on how much hair they had. It was just never enough.

Now contrast that negative attitude with the people who come to this site who are just regular guys who have one on with their lives and embraced it. I think I knew then what kind of life I wanted to live for the rest of my days :P

And yes, when I have the occasional sad thought of not having any hair, I usually go here for a reminder of how I made the best choice  O0

I think you are right in some sense...but what you have to do now that you are young and sly... (I am too) is to make your personality shine. Those who judge soley on outward appearances are doomed to live shallow and unsatisfying lives. From outward appearance I look like someone you would not want to see in a dark alley, but as soon as people come in contact with me they can feel my positive energy because I am always smiling and being positive and funny and it makes everyone around me feel good too!

It really is a great forum and you're right SamoanSeb, it's especially noticable when a new member comes on board looking for encouragment and advice. For a majority of men, suffering MPB is a tough thing to take. Dealing with it in a constructive way (i.e. no rugs, plugs, or drugs) and focusing on your attitude is critical.

Hope you continue to enjoy the forum and please post more so we can get to know you.
Cheers!

Great post, Seb.  I've made some close friends I never thought I would make on the internet.  Truly is a great place.

I couldn't agree with you more.  When I found this sight I was really struggling with my MPB - I had been wearing a hairpiece for 23 years and hated it.  I had contemplated "lifting the rug" for years but did not have the stones to do it.  Then one night I found SBG - started lurking for a while - then got the nerve to ask for help.

I was floored by the number of responses - all positive I might add.  I know I never could have gotten rid of the rug without the sincere and caring support recieved from the members of this site.

Thanks again to all who helped.   O0

It truly is a great site, for advice and friendliness.  true, we have our spats, but most of the time we all get on like the brothers we feel we are.  that's what i like best about SBG: it spans the oceans, different colours and creeds and religions and points of view, and yet we can all 'talk' to each other like we're neighbours: a true global community O0
