SHAVING OILS
« on: February 07, 2009, 08:54:33 AM »
Has anyone ever try shaving oil by itself? How was the shave?

I used Shave Secret by itself for quite awhile.  It gave an excellent shave.  I stopped using it when I got some Bald Guyz Shave Gel.  The only down side was it occasionally clogged the razor.

I use both KoS Alpha oil and Shave Secret by themselves, both give a great shave, but I give the edge to Shave Secret for the scent, and the way it leaves your scalp feeling.

Shaving oil alone?  Absolutely!  That's all I use.  The key for success is the splash of water over the oil.  It's sliiiiiiiiiick!

Currently, Shave Secret & Pacific Shaving Oil are dueling it out for favorites of mine.

I used to use KofShaves by itself, but now I use it under gel because I like to see where I'm shaving.  It gave a really close shave 8)

I tried Shave Secret by itself before and I have to say.... I hated it. I got so irritated, got a horrible shave, and even cut myself a few times.

Try putting your razor in rubbing alcohol for a while. That should get all the oil off the razor blades. Works for me.

I don't shave with oil by itself because it doesn't seem as good as if I use shaving gel on top of it.  And the shaving gel tells me where I've already shaved.

I use baby oil and lots of it; I got the idea from this site where it tells you how to shave (under "shaving oils").   It's cheap and about as effective as the much more expensive oils.  They recommend you use a few drops, but I think it works better for me to gunk it on and keep some alcohol in a dixie cup if it gets too thick.

I tried shave secret; I liked it and the smell but never could get it right consistently.

I try to keep it simple; I even use a disposable double blade razor cause I find anything else to be a cheese grader with little precision.
