The Day The Lurking Stopped...

Hello All,
I'm not a huge fan of forums really, but I had been lurking around this one for over a couple months so decided that it was only fair that I actually sign up, at least now I can toss around my two cents here and there.
So an Introduction, I am 22 years old, started thinning on the top when I was 19. Pretty tough situation to be in as many of you are all too familiar with but you do what you can. Lots of hats were worn, and tended to shy away from events that either a) Required No Hat or where just a hatless situation could occur which unfortunately meant a lot of missed actives which sucked.
Started to keep the hair real short at 19 and I've been shaving my head since about June. Generally shave everyday or every other day and not sure what I really like more the day after look or the smooth shaved but either way. Haven't exactly made peace with the whole issue, haven't really at all, I still wear tons of hats and rarely am seen without but I'm trying to go out at least a couple times a month without, a slow gradual easing into foreverbald.
My reluctance of joining the forum was basically a struggle with the idea that perhaps this would let this become the one issue that defines me. I have seen some of the younger guys my age, seem to still be struggling very much so with the balding aspect but enjoy being included in a group and didn't really want that for me if that makes any sense.
Anyways I'm here now, so have a good one everyone

Welcome Pik,
The whole purpose of this site is to not let your hair or lack of define you. It's not only young people who struggle with the hair-loss situation, I also had my issues throughout my 30's.
Sometimes its good to have a place where you won't be judged, and encouraged to be yourself, regardless of appearance. I am no fan of forums either, and I can say this is the only one I am a member of.
I learned to walk as a proud bald man here, and its the reason I stay.
I now never wear a hat unless I have to be in the sun for hours, and I prefer a headsweat to a hat.
Don't try to make peace with hairloss, its not a war and you will never win at it. Its better to learn to accept it and move on, be who your meant to be. There are alot of other things to stress over..
Its rewarding to know I made the decision to get rid of all my hair, and I wish you the best in finding acceptance of your situation.

Welcome, man.
A bald dome, if you choose it, doesn't define you. It's just a style you choose for yourself. It may at first be done simply to make the best of a MPB situation, but most often (IMO) it looks great on a man.
So do whatever you need to do, but don't avoid the dome look out of some sort of fear.
Whatever you do, be your own man.
Thanks for signing up.

Welcome PP. I know I can definitely relate to a lot of your issues. Champ007 said it best. A lot of us learned to walk proud of our baldness based upon this website. It was a great find for me-I'm not a member of any other website. There is a lot of support on this board. Utilize it and it will help. Good luck.

PP -- Glad you joined up. There is an amazing amount of thoughtful observations presented on this site, and I think you'll benefit from hanging around.
When I think of who I am, at the end of the list (if at all) would come the line..."who happens to be bald." The fact that I shave my head every morning because it is the way I choose to handle my mpb genes, does not define me. I am much, much, more than a shiny, well-groomed, bald head.
I like Champs comment about not making peace -- it's not a war. Acceptance comes first, then the peace.
Best Wishes,

Welcome to SBG PikturePurfekt. This is my only forum as well.
For what it's worth, I like the day after look on myself too (more like 4 days after). It's not really an issue of preference. I just enjoy mixing it up.
Hope to see you around.
