COUNT THE SLY GUYS.... AND THOSE THAT SHOULD BE

This "sly"thing almost becomes an obsession.  Now I don't understand why more gguys don't join the ranks.  When I'm out where there are a lot of people I find myself counting the sly guys, and there is always quite a few, and giving them a rating out of 10 for their efforts (I try to be 10 out of 10 but probably 8 is more accurate).  On the other hand I feel really sorry for those that are showing signs of baldness, or have ridiculous comb-overs making it even more noticeable, and can't help wondering why they don't just shave it off and feel how wonderful it is.  I know many are worried about bad reactions but I have been very surprised at the lack of negative comments and in fact just how positive it is viewed.  I have tried to explain to other people just how great it is but find it hard to do,

Totally agree with the obsession on counting sly guys.  I look for them.  I don't have the nerve to tell the should-be sly guys that they would look a whole lot better if they'd shave it all off.  I'm not that bold.

I think this is another attitude that is shared by guys who have faced down their problems w/ balding.  I wouldn't initiate a conversation about shaving w/ those guys I see w/ balding issues that to me look bad, but I would spend as much time as they needed if they so much as asked.  I remember, as I approached "The Deed" and hadn't found this place yet, that I was tempted to ask one of the shaved guys at the gym about it, but I didn't want to weird them out because I thought my issues were strange, shape of head, was it difficult, how often to shave, etc.  Then I found this place, and in short order my haircut was short, really smooth short--i.e. Sly

I'm certainly more aware of other sly guys walking around these days. I do notice people who would probably be better off going sly, but i would never tell them that. For one, it's not my business. Secondly, there are many different ways of dealing with hair loss. Some let it be, some have hair transplants, some use rugs, some shave it off. In my view as long as the person is happy and content with themselves, then that's all that matters. Just because i choose to shave my head who says it's right for another person? Of course i'd be happy to share info with anyone who was thinking of doing it though, but only if they brought it up.

Sorry, I ramble... Personally I don't think someone balding necessarily needs to shave their head. I find it to be a better looking style for a fleeting doo but at the same time I'm losing my hair and I mainly just buzz it down to the scalp with a trimmer. I wear my MPB with pride really. If I let it go a week I don't think it looks as good so I buzz or shave it and I think it looks good again. For what it's worth, I'm not exactly shaving my head to try and mask the fact that I have MPB. People will know where my hairline starts and ends whether I'm shaved, buzzed or not and at the end of the day I really don't give a rats ass.

Also, there are also some grown men that are completely bald on the top and have hair on the sides that don't seem to be the least big self conscious about it. I really admire that. After all, it IS the way God made man. I don't find it to be a defect or anything. It is what it is. Men go bald. Women have menstrual cycles. They get together and make babies and the cycle repeats.

What seems to be the issue for me is when someone balding has a comb over, uses cans of hairspray, wear hats all the time and are just very self conscious about it. They're obsessed about how their hair looks, meanwhile there's such an easy solution available to them. Man... Those are the guys that really have it effect their personality. No eye contact, avoiding water or bright lights, dart in and out buildings on a windy day, don't take their hats off after a round of golf. I did that for almost 10 years and it's terrible. If they don't care, neither do I. If they care and I see them struggling with it or obsessed about it... All I can do is lead by example. Those are the dudes I try to make eye contact with and give a nod. I think I even walk a little taller with my chin up. Those are the guys I want to smack in the chest with an Slybaldguys.com business card and keep walkin.

That's whats so cool about seeing new people make it on here struggling with bad hair and sooner or later shave it down like I/we did. So very cool isn't it? Sure beats saying something on the street and getting punched in the bald.

people with hair dont notice your balding really with a shaved head? its not as noticeable to others as it is to ourselves ive realized. cuz i used to always b**** about people noticing my shadow. i dont think the majority of the people do.

Yeah, that's what I'm sayin. People with even bad vision can see where a hairline starts and ends. Is it AS noticeable? No, of course not. The greater the contrast of colors the more noticeable it will be. Will it vanish? Not according the 2 eyes on my head. I admit, if I squint and wear dark sunglasses I can't tell when they're walking fast.
