Slumdog Millionaire
« on: January 27, 2009, 07:48:23 PM »
is officially the ALL TIME BEST movie ive seen in my life. i know thats a bold statement but its true. theres a reason this movie got nominated for an oscar. its a foreign film with a lot of subtitles but its SOOOO good and has a touching story to it mixed with A LOT of drama. its one of those movies that leave you feeling happy and sad at the same time when its over. i definately recommend everyone go see it.

now i cant wait till it comes out on DVD.  O0

Ive heard a lot about it. It sounds good.

Two really good foreign films are Tropa De Elite and Carandiru. Really, really good movies.

I really liked it, and saw it twice.  Wouldn't give it the honor of my favorite movie - but it's good.

in case you were wondering, my favorite movie - Father of the Bride, Part 2.
that was a joke...  the first one was much better.

I understand that the people in India and the people in Mumbai and environs especially are really pissed off about the movie. I wonder why that would be.?

I'm really interested in seeing this.  I recently watched the move Namesake and recommend it if you like this category of films.
People are not limited by the circumstance that they are born in. They are limited by the size of their dreams. Show them that their dreams can have no limits and in turn their accomplishments can be limitless.

I just saw this movie and thought it was great.  Kind of reminded me of a romantic Scarface.

I haven't seen the movie although I certainly intend to see it.  I have read about the unhappiness in Mumbai and I understand it to center on the use of the word "Slumdog."  Residents of the area in question were not happy about the designation of the area as a slum and the residents as dogs.  However, there may be more to it than this.

Ok....this is over a year after this thread was started....

But I just watched it on DVD and thought it was EXCELLENT!

Can't understand why it got an "R" rating....I watched it with my 10-year-old (after watching it once through myself).  There were only a couple "F" bombs that were so wrapped up in an Indian accent they fly right by.....same with the "S" word.

At the end I asked my daughter if she heard any cuss words and she said "no".....though she did pick up 1 or 2 "s" words in the subtitles  (that I happened to miss).
