hi im new to being sly (less than a week) earlier today i shaved and razor burned myself rather badly. Mainly near the back of the neck region, and some behind one ear.
first of all whats the best stuff to put on a razor burn ? Also what steps can help ensure that i dont do this again at least of this magnitude.
My routine has been to wash my head in warm water, pat dry then ive been using a hair conditioner to soften up the stubble, because I found shaving cream just doesnt work that well for me it felt as if i was dry shaving. as for the i bought a head blade sport. which seems to work great for the front and the back but it seems difficult to use on the sides. i can only get to the skin if i go against the grain, which is hard to do on the sides with the headblade. im sure this is what caused the burn behind the ear. then i use a warm rag to clean . i pat dry, then ive been using head lube glossy.
any suggestions will be greatly appreciated I love being sly, a little less painful would be nice though.
Thanks

Hey bud, i'm fairly new sly guy too, i've been shaving with a razor for the last few months. anyways, what i would do is instead of using a warm rag to clean, what i do i rinse my whole head off in COLD water, the coldest i can get the faucet, and then pat dry. after that i use some sensitive skin lotion and put that on my head.... as for the razor burn, that'll go away soon... at least you dont have it like me, i have a rare skin condition and i have some spots on the back of my head that look EXACTLY like razor burn, but it's totally not.... so yours will go away.
hope this helped a little.

I have a hot shower first and I use Headshed evry time in the shower. When I come out I put shaving oil on my head then Fusion Tough Beard shaving gel. Following this I use Head Blade clear head. Then the Headlube glossy. Hope this helps. Most of the guys have a different routine and I suspect it will be trial and error for you till you find a routine that suits you. Good luck.

What type of shaving cream did you try before the conditioner? Also, make sure not to apply too much pressure to the blade on the HeadBlade.

I found that Barbasol *really* dried out my skin. Try a gel or get some Headslick, and go easy.

Just go with Mach 3 for now. Forget headblade. You can come back to it once you give Mach 3 a chance. If you like Mach 3 (which you probably will) there will be no need for headblade. It's important to keep the act of shaving as painless as possible to fully enjoy it.
Use a good shave gel that has been created for the head. Try bald guyz shave gel or headslick and see what happens.

Stick with the HeadBlade, with time it feels very natural. Just take it slow, and no pressure on the blade end. Keep gentle pressure on the wheels only.
Get yourself a decent gel or cream (Bald Guyz Ultimate or HeadSlick).
Don't give up, and go easy!

I suffered from razor burn in that region quite a bit before I began using a few drops of shaving oil with either BaldGuyz shave gel or Headslick. It has not been a factor since.

Another HeadBlader here...... it's not the HB.... it's that cheap Barbasol. Get thee to Wally-World and get some HeadSlick...... or CVS for some BaldGuyz Shave Gel.

I agree with that also. I am a Headblader too and had the razor burn until I started using a quality shave oil and or gel like BaldGuyz or Headslick.

To me...the razor and the shave gel/creams are the key. It sounds like your using a good razor. In terms of the cream...give up the barbasol! The best for sensitve skin is Matte For Men Antioxidant Shave gel. Ive been using it for years now and thankfully it allows me to shave everyday. They make great stuff.
Hope it helps...

There's a whole section on the website devoted to advice and different routines that people have.
I think you should go with a shaving oil or a gel instead of the cream. I also usually use a headblade, but I do above the ears and against the grain on the sides with my Mach 3 (that I also use on my face).
I also lube up my head with a little bit of baby oil after being in the shower 5 mins or so.
So I
-lube my head with the oil,
-I put shaving gel on my face then my head. -
-I shave my face and sides with the Mach 3, -
then I shave the top and back with the headblade.
Sounds complicated but I've been at it for years and the whole process takes about 5 mins or less for me now because I'm so used to it.

Watch out with that Headlube, as it's known to cause some people post-shave redness or burning. You might want to think about spraying some witch hazel on your head before applying an aftershave balm.
Also try rubbing an ice cube over your head after the shave. It's certainly not for the faint-hearted, but man does it work. Ice will tame any head-burn flame!
