Should I do it?
« on: January 21, 2009, 03:08:41 PM »
It's almost time for another haircut and while I love the flattop I just can't help but wonder if it would be more or less expensive with a shaved head.  I get my haircut every 2-3 weeks and pay $15, $12 for the cut plus $3 tip.  I estimate that I pay around $260 a year for flattop maintenance.  I'm also wondering, should I decide to become Sly, should I warn my wife or should I just go for it.  She's not too crazy about the Sly look but she also was not too crazy about the flattop when I first got it but now that I've had it for nearly 7 years she has become accustomed to it.  Let me know what you think and thanks for the input.

Just go for it!  Even if you or your wife doesn't like it you can have a flatop back in a couple of weeks.

Seriously do it. By what you've said, u might be able to work her over or she might just give up  >:D  As always you can grow it back and it will grow back very quickly, probably in time for the next barber visit.

A common response to the spouse issue has been never ask permission, wait and get foregiveness >:D
You're here, and we're not a flattop organization, so that leads to the conclusion that you really have the itch to shave it.  Scratch the itch and live the life.  I think I speak for all of the guys here when I say you won't regret it, you'll just wonder why you waited so long.  See you on the Sly side soon.

I don't know if you could work it into a flattop in two weeks (  ; to tyler) ; but it will certainly grow back -- tell your wife that is she goes ballistic.   But I woiuld say; definately discuss it with her before hand.  You don't want it to come as too much of a shock.

I often think it's funny when guys say the do short hair because of low maintanence.  a flattop is VERY high main.; a shaved head is too; but at least you can do it yourself.  Actually; I was thinking earlier today about how much time I'd have to spend on grooming if I had a longish (two inch) haircut.  It would be  LOT of time. ...   shaving is, in comparison; much simpler.  But the only truly low main. haircut, i think is a buzzcut.

My wife always told me I couldn't shave my head and I did it anyway. She now loves it and just told me last night that she wants me to stay this way..... :@`

Long story short, I did hook up with Bill on messenger and chickened out, sorry Bill.  Today I told my wife that I was thinking about going for the Howie Mandell look, she gave me "THE LOOK" and said NO.  I asked her if it was really that bad and she said yes.  I then said that's what you thought about my flattop when I first got it and she said only when it's really short. :-[  Anyway I'm due for a haircut and so is my son.  I'm debating on going to my favorite flattop barber or going where I usually take my son, where they do ok flats but they also do headshaves.  We'll see what happens.  ;D

I can't believe your wife gave you that negative a reaction about going sly.  I really wonder what most women think of the sly look.

just a note dave, if you SHOULD chose to stay flat, you can always cut it yourself to save some money.  I use to cut my horseshoe flat years ago. However, we all wish the best with your better half and the call of the Schick.
