Well said my friend. When/If I get to Scotland I insist on getting the Scottish Ambassador tour.
thread hijack:
There is a Pho place near me, called "What the Pho". thought that was funny.
as you were..
[/quote] ive got a chineese carry out here in warren mich called (get this ) " takee outee" i SWEAR TO GOD i was laughing SO HARD i had to pull over and finish laughing !
I used to live in Grand Rapids. A place there was called "Hole Lee Chow" (not sure of the spelling).
Don't know if it's still there.
Chinese all the way for me!! It has to be the authentic and fresh kind though. I'm not referring to what they sell at many of these fast food joints.
meatballs and spaghetti
Oh yeah! You can't leave the parmesan cheese out though!
Though a big fan of food (heck, I even travel by gastronavigation "Go down and turn left at the Burger King, go a mile and turn right at the Dairy Queen") I must say that goooood Chinese is near and dear to the belly. I served for two years in Hong Kong as an LDS Missionary. I have a fair hand at cooking Cantonese. Dim Sum... well... that's just a religious experience!
Cantonese is my usual preference when it comes to Chinese, but Szechuan is good too.
Japanese fare is my favorite.

Here's another hijack with a funky chinese resturant name, near my work there is "Big Wang BBQ" but one of my Chinese friends didn't find it so hilarious, and that he knew the owner (a Fat guy called Wang) until I explained what a native English speaker would read into it

"Get This" is quite an interesting title, catchy.
Had to vote other as theres simply no way i could ever choose just one. Bit of a foodie here, and as such i enjoy a great variety of foods, just so long as they are prepared well, with adequate amounts of appropriate seasonings, cooked to the socially agreed upon level of perfect doneness (for example a steak, which should be somewhere between rare and medium in order to maximize flavor and tendeness, and for gods sake keep the seasoning simple, additional flavor complexity should come from your choice of sauce). Now, if the question had been whats your favorite meal to cook, the easy answer for me would be steak cooked just barely past rare, seasoned very simply with salt and pepper, topped with grilled onions and mushrooms, a bernaise sauce on top of that, with a side of mashed potatoes and either asparagus or brussel sprouts, add on a nicely done lobster tail or a cluster or 2 of snow crab legs with a butter garlic dipping sauce when i can afford it.
Moussaka. Come to papa ...
I've always wanted to try that.
