Stop me, before it becomes second nature
« on: January 13, 2009, 10:54:31 PM »
So I am now into week two back at the office and being sly (~4 weeks total).. and I have picked up a bad... very very bad habit.

I'm a ball buster.  There is humor in everything, I can take it as well as dishing it, and I have no problem making myself the butt of the joke or setting myself up for someone else to make me the butt of the joke... but I find myself going to the shallow end and going for cheap laughs....

Being a project manager you are constantly proving Murphy's Law... and I keep hearing myself use cheap lines when an issue pops up like "I'm not going to lose any hair over it" and "When I started here I had hair"...

I think I need to get a jar, like a swearing jar, and if anyone makes a bald joke they have to pony up a dollar.

Agonizing over what cannot be is an insult to what is.

I've been known to find humor in it as well.

"If you need me, come grab me by the hair"

or

"This is the reason I have no hair"

or

"This is why my hair is grey. Oh wait..."

and so on.

I think almost every Sly Guy here has done something like that!  I love it when it's raining and my wife, who still isn't a fan of Sly, says, You don't want to stay under the umbrella?" when we're headed for the car.  I get to smile, and say--"No, it won't muss up the hair too much! >:D"  That's fun and she grits her teeth and no further smart remarks.

I too love to joke about the lack of hair.  My problem though, is that I love to rub my bald head.  Several people have brought this to my attention.  I do this without realizing I'm doing so.  It feels great, but how do I stop?

People are not limited by the circumstance that they are born in. They are limited by the size of their dreams. Show them that their dreams can have no limits and in turn their accomplishments can be limitless.
