Cure for dirty hands

Maybe this should be under "product reviews" but because it is not the intended use of the product,,, I will post here.

I was a heavy truck and equipment mechanic for 16 years,, I tried EVERY product for cleaning hands, from Lava soap, to GO-JO with pumice, to using Brake Kleene. Some products worked,, but were hell on skin, other didn't work. Recently I had to pull the head on my car and send it out to my builder, and of course put it back together. I found a product that cleaned my hands,, and was easy on the skin,,,,,, ready for this,,,,, Head Shed by Head Blade, cleaned better than the Go-JO did,,, was easier on the skin than Brake Kleene!!!! Now,,, it is more expensive than the other products,, but what the hey!!! Again,, I am a paying customer,, but when something works,,, it works. Don't ask me why it does work better than the GO-JO with pumice,, but it does. Solvents have always done a good job,,, but my hands dry out severely from them and crack really bad.

I remember this stuff that my dad used to get that came in a red metal can for cleaning your hands--it was pumice based at the time.  (O.K., I'm dating myself--this stuff was from the late '50's and early '60's).  He went to school to become an auto mechanic before he ended up working for the post office.  He retired after 36 years in the post office.  I'd remember the name of the stuff if I heard it, but I can't remember what it was off hand.

You may be right about that, but I don't recall that being the name.  My dad still has a can of the stuff out in his garage, that must have been there 30 years now.  I'm not even sure if the stuff's any good after all these years.

I've used Goop.  The trick is to put it on with your hands dry.  If you wet them first it doesn't work as well.
