What is your New Year's resolution?
« on: December 28, 2008, 06:43:19 AM »
With the start of the New Year just days away, many of us will be making resolutions for the days ahead.  I personally want to get back on a steady workout schedule and to also set aside some specific time each day to just read for pleasure.  What is your resolution for 2009?

I have never been any good at keeping resolutions so I quit making them years ago. I guess mine would be to continue losing weight as I have lost 25 lbs this year and would like to lose 10 more so I could get to 170.    :-\

My resolution is to not make any resolutions !!

Ain't never been much for New Year's resolutions.  If I was, I don't recall them "sticking."

My resolutions (fitness, spiritual, etc...) sorta "happen" at non-descript times that have little if anything to do with time of year.

However, now after throwing that wet blanket all over Paul's thread.....

My business lends itself to year-by-year goals, strategies and planning that take place at the end / beginning of each year.  So, yeah, that includes boning up on industry reading/education.....rekindling the POSITIVE THINKING, POSITIVE FOCUS, CAN-DO stuff.

Also looking forward to getting down to a lean fighting weight of 190 lbs, 32-inch waist, 12% body-fat by September. (see my little runner guy running toward that "190" mark!)  But that's not a New Years resolution....that's a DIAGNOSED-WITH-A-SERIOUS-DISEASE resolution.

Same here.  I tried a different approach this time around and tried to get an early start around the first of December.  I'm hoping the early start will make it less of a New Year's resolution so maybe I'll be more likely to stick with it.  I set some fitness goals and got back on track as far as paying attention to the diet goes.  I've gone off the rails just a bit this past week with the holidays.  My friend who's been visiting just headed back to Florida this morning, so now I'm going to try to get back on y regular schedule.

Instead of looking at this as something you must do forever, give yourself small goals. For example tell yourself for the next hour you won't bite your nails. Then when that hour passes do it again and so forth. That is the technique a friend of mine used to get cigarettes out of his life. He will tell you he never "quit" smoking but for the last 35 years he has been going the "next hour" without one.

Gave up on resolutions.  Never kept them. Not a resolution, but I am going to try go get out more and meet new people and perhaps volunteer time for a worthy cause.
