trouble spots.
« on: December 20, 2008, 11:11:34 AM »
Hey guys, i realize there are past threads on this topic ive read up on most just wanted to see if any one has had a major breakthrough or anything.
i only have 2 areas where i have trouble shaving, my crown(cowlick) which has so many angles i can never seem to get it all, i find myself rubbing it all day long and grabbing razors to try to take off each little spot :x! :/O
also my neck... more specifically where my original hairline is... it almost seems that this hair is "too soft" to actually be cut by the blades. i manage to cut them but it never seems like they are totally gone and since ive had to shave the area 10 times i get razor burn
it has started to hurt less and less but Im wondering if anyone could give me a little more insight.
* headblade sport with the stock triple, i shave at the sink but after a shower, and always rinse when im done with ice cold water( in canada it comes out of the tap like that in the winter)
thank you in advance.
Cheers and merry christmas
J.

Hey jMac627,

I can tell you what I do and hopefully others will give you better tips.  The crown area is so difficult for me to shave.  That's why I mentionned somewhere on this site that it takes me 50 minutes to shave (I use mach 3).    Since I have used bald guyz pre-shave scrub I find that the crown area is easier to deal with  (now it takes me 20 to 25 minutes to shave).
Also, the bald guyz shave gel really helps reduce irrational at the back of my neck.  So I think if you get some really good shaving gel/cream it will help you avoid razor burns on your neck.   That's been my experience.

I don't want to sound like the proverbial broken record, but I'm a huge fan of shave oil.  For whatever reason, it works great for me -- alone-- and there simply isn't any razor burn.  My neck is the vulnerable area -- even an electric shaver turns it into raw, red, swaths.  But with HB + Shave Secret I get no burn.  I know there are a number of guys who put a layer of oil under their lather and speak highly of that, but I've never had the need.  Another plus is that cleanup is easy -- not messy at all, except for a few water splashes around the sink.

Good luck!

I must say the worst spot for me is my Cowlick cause I can never get it all, but my neck gets torn up everytime no matter what.

For stubborn spots that are hard to get smooth, try going over them with an electric razor after you've shaved with the blade.  You can usually go over the same area with the electric enough times as necessary without irritating your skin.

For me, a problem area is the back of the neck below the hairline.  No blade or electric seems be be able to cut those suckers and my neck is always red for days after trying.

Hey Razor, I have some hairs below the hairline like you.  In fact I didn't really have a "hairline" at the back of my neck.  It was a mess with so many hairs.   I go for electrolysis.....which is a way of permanently removing those hairs.  You might want to consider that because right now I have a well-defined hairline and those hairs like yours are gone forever.   ;)
