« on: December 14, 2008, 08:04:10 PM »
everyone knows i am a bit of a scrooge. but i was thinking earlier about christmas songs. i found a cd full of them and my favorite song (for this time of year) was on it.  so mine is PLEASE COME HOME FOR CHRISTMAS. by CHARLES BROWN.  my favorite traditional song is probably the little drummer boy. just like that one. so what are your favorites?

O Come All Ye Faithful (and I can sing  the first verse in Latin)

Agreed......Especially Bing Crosby's version.

My favorite by far is Pachelbel's Canon.

I'm also fond of:
Do You Hear What I Hear
O Holy Night
Merry Christmas Darling (Karen Carpenter)

Oh, and who could forget "Elf's Lament" by the Barenaked Ladies for sheer laughs.

Nat's solo version of The Christmas Song?
Or one of the duets (Nat with Frank Sinatra or Nat with daughter Natalie)

I prefer the author of the tune, Mel Torme's version of that song.

The Christmas Song - Nat King Cole

The Marvelous Toy - Various artists   Check it our here:
My Daughter surprised me last week when she and her class snag it at their Christmas Concert. She knows I love this song and she didn't tell they were singing it so i would be surprised.

My absolute favorite song and my favorite version of it..... Mary Did You Know sung by Kathy Mattea This song says it all for me. The first time I heard this song a few years back our Contemporary Music Team in Church sang it. I wept at the words.

This version is off this amazing Christmas CD of incredible songs you've probably never heard. Check it out here:

Christmas Christmas time is near, time for toys and time for cheers.  We've been good but we cant last, hurry christmas hurry fast.

Want a plane that loops the loop
Me, I want a hula hoop
We can hardly stand the wait
Please Christmas, don't be late

We can hardly stand the wait
Please Christmas, don't be late

I thought yours would be "Grandpa Got Run Over By A Mudboat" ;D ;D ;D

For me, it would be Silent Night, sung a cappella, or w/ guitar.
