That's interesting. I had 2 VW Bugs back in the 70''s but never seen that camper combo before. Must be it never caught on or was only available in Europe?

It must not have caught on.  The announcer said it was made in Indiana. 

The problem is that back in those days, there were a lot of what were known as "gypsy" camper builders.  They would open up a shop, build a few units, sell them and move on.  A lot of them were cheaply built, and pretty much junk from the start.

People would try to go back for service, and find the "company" no longer existed.
