Head prep- before and after?
« on: December 07, 2008, 06:05:25 AM »
I would like to get the best shave possible and minimize the number of times that I cut my head.  How can I achieve this and what are some products that I should put on my head before and after the shave?  Thanks guys

I'm not bald yet.

Welll I like the BaldGuyz HeadWash for before.
When I'm done shaving I like to use Apricot Scrub exfoliator followed by a nice thorough rinse.

Then I love Nivea Extreme After Shave Balm as a finish after getting out of the shower.

I will try the bald guys pre-shave scrub before I shave once I receive it on Friday.
For now I don't use anything before or after shave.   But I have been trying the Bald
Guys shave gel as my shave gel for a week and a half (4 shaves in total) and I don't get any cuts whatsoever.
I'm not good at shaving and I can't cut myself with that product, so I would say the average person
would not have any cuts either.

Plenty of hot water, take your time and witch hazel afterward.

Rather than the apricot scrub that a lot of guys use and swear by, I've been pleased w/ a good scrub w/ a loofa pad.  They're available at Wal-Mart--be sure to get the pad, the sponge is large and hard to use.
I'm also a big fan of Nivea after shave balm, the extra sensitive stuff--good smell but in no way overwhelming.
Also, I duck my head under the faucet and let the cold water only run over the newly cleaned up dome--some use ice but we have bedrooms etc upstairs and the ice makers down stairs and I'm not organized enought to get some on my way upstairs after coming back from the gym.
Since I've got some problem skin (I support one dermotologist!) I also wipe down my head w/ hydrogen peroxide w/ a cotton pad after drying off the dome after the rinse then apply benzoyl peroxide gel--10%--just to keep zits and red spots at bay.

Plenty of hot water, lather, more hot water, then apply the shaving gel and leave it on head while I shave face, then rub up the shaving gel on my head again with a little hot water to bring the lather back a bit, then I shave with Sensor excel.

After I shave I wash head and apply lotion, moisturiser etc.
