Getting a hard time
« on: December 04, 2008, 08:03:58 AM »
As some of you will know I shaved my head proper for the first time 2 days ago.

Cant beleive who I am getting the most grief from. My 8 year old daughter is giving me big pelters. Anyone else get a hard time from junior family members and how did u deal with it?

No harassment from anyone. Everyone has liked it so far.

My friend's boy who is 5 said "I can see the sun and clouds on your head". It was a nice day early September and my dome was freshly shaved and extra shiny. I just laughed and said "The sun feels great doesn't it?!".

Well you are just 2 days into it.  Sometimes it takes some longer than others to realize how good it looks.  It is just different for them.  My kids and wife did the same thing for about the first 2 weeks, now they cant imagine me with hair.

She doesn't want me to have long hair. She just liked the feel when I clipped it. She says "bring back your hedgehog daddy"

Just ground her (force her to stay in her room) for a certain amount of time or have her sit in the corner for 30 minutes every time she gives you pelters.   When she asks why you are punishing her, say "I didn't raise a narrow minded child and you need to learn to respect people."  I think she will get the message real quick and leave you alone about your hair.  Sorry if that sounds brutal, but there is no better love than tough love.

how old are you gonnaBsly?  Sorry, but I dont treat my kids like they are slaves.  You sound like a guy who is married  to my sister in law.  I have set him straight many of times. Most recently this past weekend when they were home for Thanksgiving.  He thinks everyone needs to bow at his feet.  WRONG!....sorry gonnaBsly but that attitude will not get you very far in this world.

Yeah, she will come around Stephen. Remember she's just 8 years old and she's use to seeing her Daddy a certain way and sometimes children don't like change however small it may seem to adults.

Sorry gonnabe. That is a truly terrible post and I cant beleive anyone in 2008 would think like that, let alone post it on a site such as this.

I would never treat my children in such a way. As some of the other guys have said she is just used to seeing her daddy look a certain way.

Pity help any kids you may have in the future.

She'll soon love it Stephen. When my kids are being stinkers I tell them I'm going to grow my hair back. They tell me i won't look like Shrek anymore if i do that.
