Anyone been on a cruise before?
« on: November 24, 2008, 12:21:18 PM »
My mrs has booked us on a cruise to New York next July. Trying to be positive and excited but I am thinking "What am I gonna do on a boat for 6 days?" Anyone else been and was it good?

I've never gone on one mainly because I can't stop from thinking "What am I gonna do on a boat for 6 days?"

I'm looking forward to the post-trip review.

Yes, I have been before. Cruise's can be a lot of fun and you get to meet a lot of people and eat till your hearts content. Since I lived on a ship for 3 years my wife enjoys them a little more than I do though. You'll have a blast and won't regret going and there are so many things to do on the ship you won't get bored at all.  Just have fun !!    O0

eating is good; dinner should be second seating. My prob with a cruise is what to do between say 10am (after breakfast) and 2pm (pool time). Evenings are usually food, gambling and a show.  Overall, cruises are good stuff.

I enjoy cruises.  There is plenty to do.  For one...Relax on the deck.  There are plenty of buffets basically 24/7, there is even room service..just pick up the phone and call for an order of 2 club sandwiches, side of pickle and chips with a drink at 3 am if thats what you want.  Dont worry, cause it is free, you just have to pay gratuities when you leave the ship.

I have been on 2 and they were both the best vacations that I have ever been on.  I would love to go again soon.  Believe me, there is no shortage of things to do. You will have a blast!!!

I've been on 2 cruises before (Alaska and Western Caribbean) and am actually going on one from New York to the Bahamas this Saturday. Itsthe only way to go...if you price out hotels, food, car rental, etc, etc....and then do the math on the cruise where everything is included...It is a better deal and its so much fun!

We went on a cruise to Bermuda and loved it.  We were excited about seeing Bermuda but loved the ship so much we spent very little time onshore.  I think you'll have a great time - go for it.

Thanks guys. You are all making me feel so much better about this. Really looking forward to being in New York again. Was there 3 years ago. Stayed in Marriott Times Sq and going back there again. I know its expensive but what the hell. Only get 1 shot at life. Was a wreck when we went to Ground Zero. Have to go back there again. Then up to my aunt's in North Reading Mass for a week.

Thanks again for making me feel better about my trip.

Never been on one but have heard about the food.  I LOVE FOOD!  I've heard some have 24 hour buffets.  Can't wait to go on one.

Yeah, I know it shouldn't be all about the food.  But like others have said, what the heck am I going to do on a boat for 6 days?
