Face rash???
« on: November 19, 2008, 11:20:14 AM »
Guys, the past few days after taking a shower and shaving, I've noticed a red rash developing on my forehead and temple area.  Luckily, it dies down after about 20 minutes, but I have never seen this before. ?
The only thing I can think of is that I'm having some sort of reaction to the generic brand apricot scrub I'm using.  In addition to scrubbing the dome, I also rub it on my face.  That's the only thing that I put on my face, so at this point, seems like the only explanation.

Ever experienced this??

maybe you are rubbing it too hard ! LOL....

I would maybe change brands 2timer.  I have never used a scrub ..yet.  Had thought about it.  So do this...change brands and see if it works.  If that is the case...let us all know what off brand you were using so we wont be apt to try it.

Happened to me before.  I used the black head treatment scrub from St. Ive's.  I guess it was just drying me out too much because of the salicylic acid in it.  I switched to the sensitive formula for a while and that worked.  I don't even use a scrub anymore now though.  I just put whatever wash I'm using on a washcloth and scrub my face with the cloth gently.  Does the same thing basically and I haven't noticed any difference as far as getting a "better shave."

I know St Ives has a sh*t ton of chemicals in it, I would switch to something gentler

Well,
I was going to say you need to stand on your head in the shower when shaving. I would definitely get one of those rubber mats with the suction cups on the bottom, ya know like grandma has, so you don't slip. This will help to keep the blood flow circulating around your face and head and not your toes, which should keep the skin healthier.
If you have issues holding yourself up you can get some ankle bracelets like Duece Biggalo wore in the top of the shower. Just make sure you don't have a fish aquarium near your shower.

LOL.. u guys are crazy.

which is more reason for me to follow your suggestions.  I think i'll be combining the upside head shave with the leg licking.

I know some people cannot use the scrub because it makes them break out, especially if they have sensitive skin. Maybe cut down on the frequency of use and how hard and long you scrub with it.....?

Mike, It's funny you mention that, because I think I just found out the cause this morning.  It turns out it has nothing to do with the apricot scrub, it's the change of temperature in water - between the hot shower shave, and the cold water rush on my face and head.
I took a shower and shaved in there as usual, but made sure I did not scrub my face.  Got out of the shower, went to the sink, and took care of any visible shadow or stubble, and noticed no rash.  Then I ran a generous amount of cold water over my head and face.  Instantly after that, I could see the rash forming.  My skin must be sensitive to the extreme temp change of water or something.  But like i said, the good news is it fades away after a few minutes.

So thats my theory and im stickin to it
