The Gift of Compassion............

Hello Guys.......
I have a simple request of you. It will cost you virtually nothing and will take only a few minutes of your time. This request is simply about the "Gift of Compassion".
I know many of you have read Tim's post about his Dad losing his best friend Larry to cancer just yesterday. Obviously, there is never a good time to lose a friend, but right at the Holiday Season has to be the worst. My Dad is in his seventies and I remember when his best friend died about ten years ago how it affected him. It was the only time I've ever seen that tough old guy cry........ so I can sort of relate to how Tim's Dad is feeling AND how Tim feels for his Dad right now.
I PM'd Tim over the weekend and asked if he would PM me his Dad's smail mail address so that I could send his Dad a little anonymous note just expressing a little compassion for his loss. I believe that sometimes the compassion of strangers can be the most powerful kind of compassion.
So I started thinking about this yesterday morning and thought how great it might be for Tim's Dad to receive a handful of anonymous compassionate notes regarding the loss of his friend Larry.
How great of a simple gift would that be to start a man's Thanksgiving week? Simple anonymous notes, from complete strangers, expressing a little compassion for the loss of a dear friend.
So here's what I ask....... If you would like to send Tim's Dad an anonymous note or card, simply PM me and I will PM you back with the address where you can send your note or card. My card will be going into the mail today.
Please be a part of this guys........... The Gift of Compassion.
I've posted this thread without Tim's knowledge but I did PM one of the Mods to be sure that it would be OK.
Mike

not sure if everyone is checking back on this thread. Thanks to all of you who have responded.
The visitation will be tomorrow ( Wed) and then the funeral will be Thursday at 1:30. Just remember to keep the family in your prayers. Dad is hold up ok. But I have a feeling the worst is yet to come.

I've had a few guys contact me for the mailing info for Tim's Dad but if i know some of the guys on here like I think I do, I'm betting they have already PM'd/spoken to Tim directly.

If there aren't any guys that haven't done this yet PLEASE contact Mike and get the address. It will only take a few seconds to write a quick note of encouragement to help Tim's dad through his time of grief. I think it's a great thing to start and maybe we can do this more often. A simple gesture of kindness, even coming from a stranger, can lift someone's spirits more than you realize.

My Dad recieved the first card yesterday from you guys. It was really driving him crazy until he figured it out while talking to me today. He broke down. Couldnt understand why someone who doesnt know him would take so much time to do such a good thing. I reminded him that the guys I chat with all the time on the computer are actually human beings with feelings too. Just because we all meet in a forum doesnt mean we are a bunch of weird freaks. He Thanks you all who are contributing to this great idea that Mike has brought forth to us all. I only hope that I get the chance to contribute to this some day. I think it is a wonderful thing, especially when I seen first hand of the impact it has on the receptiant. Thanks Guys, you are Great!

That's great Tim. I know who that first note was probably from but I will let his name remain anonymous here. His letter was in the mail within a couple of hours of when I posted this thread. He and I PM'd back and forth a bit to make sure my idea was sound and would work.
You know who you are my anonymous friend. Thanks for helping me tweak my idea and I admire you for your quick response to this thread.
