It has not "solved" all my problems.
Fellow slys. There were a few reasons why I decided to go sly,, one was wanting to do it for a while, second was to change my life and luck. The past two years have been pretty tough. I started to have shoulder problems end of 2006, I had surgery in March 2007, and after over a year of follow up PT, I had a second surgery in July this year. This one looks good, until Friday, Large improvement was being made. Friday Morning while on the way to work, An MTA bus side swiped me, pushing me into a pole. I am having considerable pain in my repaired shoulder, and van looks to be totaled. Here's the rub, van was a 1997 Safari, not worth much according to KBB, but to me priceless,, well maybe not priceless, but paid for, running great, well kept, and the first vehicle we bought together after we got married.
This is on top of an accident I had back in April, where a pedestrian jumped in front of my work vehicle,, I still don't know the well being of him, no-one will say if he survived or not.
When will it end?
Thanks for allowing me to vent.
Tom
Hey Tom, wouldn't it be great if being sly did solve all our problems !!
Hey, I'm sorry for all your going through and hopefully things will get better for you soon. I think we all have our problems and sometimes wonder when it will all end.
I could give you a list of things that have been going on here, but that's not the purpose of your post and I know you have enough problems of your own, but just know your not alone and we all have issues.
Anyway, you have my support and prayers brother and anytime you want to vent , just do it !!
I know getting things off our chest sometimes helps a great deal and is a beginning in the healing process both physical and spiritual.
Good luck bro, and again , my prayers and thoughts are with you......
Hey man..It's ok to vent. Thats what we are here for.
Honestly I don't have an answer for you. I do know that someone once said "in every adversity there is the seed of an equal or greater benefit." I don't know how much you have studied spritual matters but you might want to do some research on a subject called "The Law of Attraction." If you are a reader an author named Wayne Dyer has a book called "There's a Spiritual Solution for Every Problem." It might be of some help to you. It has been..and is..to me.
One thing is for sure. Life is going to hand us challenges. In the area of finances it seems I have had challenges steadily for over two years with another one happening just yesterday. What I have learned is that when S..T happens, after I get past being upset about it, to just get quiet and ask "what am I supposed to learn out of this..what is the lesson." Sometimes the answer comes quickly and sometimes I can best describe the answer as "slowly unfolding." Then I learn from it and grow the best I can.
Hope some of what I said can be of help to you.
Tom,
Very sorry to hear about your situation. I hope everything starts to turn around for you. Vent anytime you feel the need. That's why this place is so great. A lot of great people around here that don't mind...Just listening. If you ever need to vent some more or just want to shoot the breeze pm me anytime man.
Like the others have said, I wish I could give you an answer to your problems. I just hope your arm is ok. Are you going to go to the Dr. to get it checked again? Keep us posted brother. Take care and best wishes.
Tom, so sorry to hear of your problems. You look like a strong and spiritual person. Just remember the Lord will not give you more than you can handle. My thought and prayers are with you and your family. Vent to me anytime you like. I have broad shoulders. All the best to you.
Hey Tom-
Sorry things are not going well for you.
Things will turn....... stay positive, pray hard, and KNOW that the next day is yours.

If none of that works, PM me and we'll meet up for a beer in Westminster.
Accidents happen. And they are just that - accidents. You can't blame yourself or anyone else for them. Sometimes people do really stupid things (like drunk driving), but the things that happened to you just happened, for whatever reason (or really no reason at all).
Just keep your head high and do your best to come out of it a better man. For your sake, find peace knowing that you couldn't have avoided what happened. You did nothing wrong.
I once read the definition of "right place, wrong time" etc.:
Right place: You were going about your business doing nothing wrong.
Wrong place: You were somewhere or doing something you shouldn't have.
Right time: You get lucky and avoided something really bad (or came across something good).
Wrong time: Something happens out of the ordinary (accident).
So you were in the right place at the wrong time. The bus and the pedestrian were in the wrong place at the wrong time.
