Good old South Carolina southern sweet tea......!! NO Lemon
Our country demands all our strength, all our energies. To resist the powerful combination now forming against us will require every man at his place. If victorious we will have everything to hope for in the future. If defeated, nothing will be left for us to live for.

I only drink Iced Tea in the summer.  I drink hot tea or hot green tea occasionally but mainly just coffee.

I drink it instead of soda.  It's really refreshing after an intense workout.

Iced tea, year round, unsweetened, just a little fresh lemon.  I find it strange to go up north and see people drinking hot coffee WITH the meal instead of after.  It's easy to spot the touristas when they order hot coffee w/ the meal in the Crescent City!

Even though I am a Northwesterner, my first iced tea was southern style sweet tea.  Boy was that good!  I had a stepmom at the time, who was from Arkansas.  Unfortunately, she was kind of evil.  But I digress.  I do tend to like brewed tea better than instant.  But I won't turn down sweetened with lemon, Lipton or Nestea.  Interestingly enough. go to Canada and you will find the restaurants will serve the iced tea already sweetened, unlike most of the US.

If I'm drinking straight tea - brewed. Down here in the South we have a wonderful concoction called "Sweet Tea."  Love it. Had some with dinner tonight.

If I'm mixing my favorite summer time drink - 1/2 lemonade 1/2 tea, I'll use instant for that.

Ain't that called "Swa Taa?
Used to live in the South (Alabama). Nothing like Huddle House Sweet Tea....so sweet it makes your teeth hurt.    ;D

Tetly blended Iced Tea bags!!!  Sweet of course, southern style. Have a gallon in the fridge right now.
If the Boston Tea Party happened in the south, we would have threw the Red Coats overboard and brewed the tea for Days!!

And just how many have heard of sun tea??  Sun tea is when you takes a clear glass gallon jug filled with water and tea bags, and you set it on your roof in the southern hot sun for about 5 or 6 hours. Add your sweetner to taste or none at all, then pour over ice. Thats what is called naturally brewed!  8)

Champ, your post reminds me of
The Georgia Sweet Tea Brewhaha/

For centuries, legislators in my state have been passing laws that can be, at best, described as stupid. For instance, there is a law currently in force in Georgia that makes it illegal to carry an ice cream cone in your back pocket on Sunday. This is just plain dumb. After all, everyone knows that the best place to carry an ice cream cone is your front pocket. Besides, if you can’t carry an ice cream cone in your back pocket on Sunday, what’s the point of buying ice cream in the first place?

Even worse, the “geniuses” in the Georgia state house are at it again. This time, they want to make it a crime not to offer sweetened tea in any restaurant that serves iced tea. Apparently, these legislators think that it’s too much work to require the customer to actually sweeten his or her own tea. I suppose next they’ll propose a law requiring steakhouses to cut the meat for their customers. The bill was introduced by Representative John Noel and four co-sponsors. Amazingly, Noel says the bill is an attempt to bring humor to the legislature.

Now, please understand that I like a good joke as well as the next guy. However, there is nothing funny about threatening to throw someone in jail if they don’t make tea the way you like it. Think about it. When was the last time you heard a knock-knock joke that went: “Knock-knock. Who’s there? Jail time. Jail time for who? Jail time for you if you don’t put some sugar in my tea.” Perhaps this is funny but you definitely had to be there.

By the way, if this bill is passed, the “crime” of servicing unsweetened tea will be punished as a misdemeanor “of a high and aggravated nature.” In Georgia, you can be jailed for up to a year on a misdemeanor charge.

Can you imagine trying to explain this to your cellmate, a man serving a triple-life term for murder? “Yes, that’s right, I served unsweetened tea. And guess what? If they ever let me out, I’ll do it again too! Don’t mess me, I’m a bad man!”

On the other hand, it's nice to live in a state where the biggest problem is the amount of sugar in your tea. In most states, the problems are much more serious.  O0

Definitely brewed and I generally prefer unsweetened.
Life has three aspects: Paradox, Humor, and Change.

Paradox: Life is a mystery; don't waste time figuring it out.
Humor: Keep a sense of humor, especially about yourself. It is a strength beyond all measure
Change: Know that nothing stays the same.

Well Rafter...let me say this.  I can and sometimes do drink unsweetened iced tea.  There are times though that I do prefer sweetened tea.  I think that both should be offered in a restaurant.  Sugar does not dissolve well in iced tea.  It jsut sorta sits in the bottom.  Solution?  I have found one.  My wife covers her face and head when I do this...but hey it works.  I ask for a cup of hot water..very hot.  Once I get it...I empty some of it out into my glass of ice water...add about 5-6 packets of sugar to dissolve it..then add some to my iced tea.  I do not like a very sweet tea...but by adding that many packets increases the concentration of the sugar water but do not want to water down my tea.  Complicated?  probably....but ITS MY SWEET TEA!  LOL

Love SWEET tea.  I guess the way I drink it would be called "southern."  Lots of sugar.

While it's difficult to think about Iced Tea when it's 26 degrees outside....

I'm going to have to go with brewed AND unsweetened.   Can't do sweet tea, can't deal with the powder.  Just a classic black iced tea, or green with a little lime or ginger.   yum.

What? Never!! Goes to show you its a very entertaining state, and we don't need a TV to entertain us. I can usually check my neighbor across the street and be entertained for hours as he does stupid crap in his yard. Handed him a beer this summer while he was on his riding mower and he tipped the mower in the ditch. It was so funny watching him try to first- hide the beer from his wife and second- try to pull the mower out with his SUV. Good times, good times  ;D
