fusion alternative

i love my fusion power razor, but the blades are so costly$$$$$ any one got a good alternative that does not cost a small fortune???

You bet... traditional wet shaving.

It takes practice, but you can get 100 high quality blades for about $.12 a piece.



A couple others are the Headblade and Dovo Head Shaver, both of which can use Atra or Sensor cartridges. I use both and find the Sensor 3 cartridges are best for me, but everyone is a little different and it takes experimentation to figure out what works for you.



If you prefer a standard handle razor, try either the Mach3 (slightly less expensive) or the Sensor Excel (a lot less expensive).

What I have found is that you can purchase the Sensor 3 disposables and use the heads on the standard or Excel handles (as well as the Headblade and Dovo Head Shaver) razors.

This brings the cost per cartridge down to just over $1 a piece!

Hey rn, your best bet would be to pick up a HeadBlade Sport and some Atra plus doubles, or the generic equal. They work great and can save you much money over the costly fusion refills.

There's so much propaganda against head shaving with a DE one would think that they were suggesting you shave your head with a sharpened piece of flint.
Once a person has learned (BTW your daddy should have taught you to shave) how to shave their face with a DE it's a simple matter to transfer that skill to the head.
But every time the subject comes up some uninformed person chimes up "Isn't that dangerous" or "You must be very brave"
IMHO Carelessness with the Head Blade will carve a bigger chunk of flesh out of your head then you'll ever get with a DE.

i agree totally with bob. everyone is always trying to get the closest shave at the least amount of cost.you just cant beat a de for shaving and a good high end blade runs around .12cents up to .50 cents..  the blade that works the best for me cost .18 cents a blade and last up to 5 shaves and if i want i can skip a day on my face. when i shave my head with a de it is virtually smooth and stays that way a lot longer than even my head blade triples and only cost me pennies a day.

just no comparison between cartridge and double edge.

Yes, Fusions are a bit expensive, but when you factor in the cost of going to the Barber, $14 for 20 or so (give or take)  hair cuts is a great deal.  Plus you don't have to tip the Barber!

Another angle is that I've found that it takes me longer to shave w/ a double bladed razor than a razor w/ 3 or more blades.  And as they say, time is money.  Just my experience.

Also other than the Headblade, DE razor which's fine to use on the head with abit of practice, don't ignore the lesser blade razors such as the M3 or Excel which per cartridge are cheaper in retail.  With a good prep the results can be seriously as good.

The Mach3 and Sensor are cheaper alternatives to the Fusion.
So much so that Gillette has hired some heavy hitter (Woods, Jeter and Federer) in a propaganda war aimed at their own previous generations top of the line product.
Gillette spent hundreds of millions of dollars promoting the Mach 3 as the greatest razor in the history of the world.
Now that they have a new more expensive (more profitable) system they are finding shaver reluctant to switch to or that are returning to the Mach 3.
So now they are slamming their own product as not good enough.
Says something about Gillette and harkens back to the early days of the Trac 2 when they referred to the DE as "Old Ironsides".
Well Old Ironsides is still going strong but the Trac 2 is a distant memory.

Until I find something that does a better job than the Fusion I'll stick with it. I get tired of hearing how expensive the blades are. It's worth the money to me not to worry about cutting my noggin, which I have never done in 3 years with the fusion....

I wanted to try the Fusion since it has been so highly recommended by some users here. I bought one and used it for the first time and I must say I wasn't disappointed. I got a smooth faster shave due to less trips over the noggin. So far I like it much better than the Mach 3 I had been using. I agree with Brkeatr my head is worth the extra. O

I use a fusion on my face, but don't change the blades that often. I run them pretty ragged. Use the headblade on the noggin though, using Gilette Atra blades. And I don't run them ragged  .

Fusion is the way to go!!!!!!! Try save a blade,it`s been working fine for me.I have tried many different razors and I got tired of cuts all over my dome.I`M on a tight budget,but I have found other things to cut out,so I can keep buying my fusions!
