Soon-to-be Sly Guy
« on: October 04, 2008, 08:30:44 AM »
Hi Everyone,

I'm 26 years old, I've recently decided to become a Sly Guy. I do have thin and receding hair, but my eventual natural baldness is not the main reason I've made this decision. Rather, my hair is just average. I can't do anything with it. I tried to grow it long a few years ago, but I felt it was just a young guy's comb over: no matter how long I grew it, it was obvious I wasn't blessed with flowing locks.

I've given up on styling my hair for a while now. I just towel dry it, and don't touch it for the rest of the day. I don't hate my hair. Like I said before, it's just average. It just takes up space.

So why keep it? Right? I look best when my hair is cut really short. So shouldn't I look best bald?

Opposite of my scalp, I've always had thick facial hair, and have always enjoyed growing a beard in winter. So I'm taking a few days to grow a nice goatee, and I plan on going bald next weekend. I look forward to getting rid of my average hair, and sporting a Sly look that will really make me stand out in a crowd.

I'll post a profile pic after I take the plunge. In the meantime, if any veterans have any pointers as I embark on this journey, I'd love to hear them.

Good way of thinking so go ahead and do it...don't put off until tomorrow the things you can do today O0

Welcome Slickj
Pop over to the shaving routines in the forum and get some valuable info to prepare for the first shave.
Watch the ice cubes on the first shave, some scalps are too sensative at first.
Congrats on the decision, you will be glad you did  8)

Welcome Jay! Just buy good razor ( Mach3 or Gillete Fusion ),good shaving gel ( Gillete ) and good aftershave ( I'm happy with Nivea Extreme Comfort aftershave balm ),don't rush things,if you accidentally cut yourself don't panic, cause it heals rather quickly and it doesn't bleed long, and it happens only if you rush.Don't put too much pressure on razor, and go slowly :)

Good luck, and post a picture when you had hair and after you shaved!

So you don't mind standing out in a crowd, do you!  8)
Jay you already have the SLY attitude so there's very little to say other than
you shouldn't be fooled by the autumn sun. You must protect your head with a moisturizer containing a sun protection factor (SPF of at least 30). Welcome and good luck with your transitioning to SLY.

Bought all the stuff I need to shave it off today. Now I really want to shave it off! I probably won't wait a week. Probably just two days at the most (I still want my goatee to grow a little more).

Welcome Jay ...    I think you're making the right decision to shave it all off.  Sounds like you can't wait to do it and I think you'll love it and regret not doing it sooner.
