.......that scared you??
I remember watching this on tv when i was younger...maybe middle 70's. Well I never really watched it because everytime our babysitter would watch us, she would always watch this show. Even if I was in the other room, I could hear the intro and go running for the recliner she was sitting in and hidding behind it. It would just scare the crap outta me. This show , SAMMY TERRY was broadcasted from a tv station out of Indianapolis. I am not sure how far out it went. But here it is take a look...

lol back then those scary movies like that were the best. Maybe it is just because we were little but today movies like that do not scare me at all. I tried watching something the other night and I actually fell asleep.

Yeah, when I was a kid there was a movie called ( I think) " They came from Mars" ....was watching it across the street with some neighborhood kids and by the time it was over it was dark. I think I ran home with my heart thumping waiting for the Martians to get me. I believe there was a remake of that 50's sci-fi but it's nothing compared to the original black and white, especially when your only 7 or 8 years old...

When I was a kid I LOVED horror movies. One Saturday a month we would take our money walk to the next neighborhood over to go to the Saturday afternoon matinee. A lot of Vincent Price movies. We would get two movies and a cartoon for less than a dollar. For another 50 cents yoou got popcorn and a drink.
That kind of stuff never scared me but I used to have recurring nightmares. Stupid stuff from a kids imagination that would wake me up sweating.

one of the old movies that freaked me out most as a kid was 'The Blob' - it was really creepy to think of something like that coming after you! Now I just think its funny

That was the one that freaked my out the most as a kid too, Brkeatr. Especially the weird music before the sand opened up and swallowed the people. As a kid summers were spent with family who had a similar back fence opening onto a field and clay pit, and after that film I WOULD NOT go out there at night for fear the Martians would get me.

LOL Paul, exactly. That sand opening up and swallowing everyone was the scariest thing for me when I saw that movie... and then the martians implanting them things in the backs of the people's necks..... I remember watching the ground everywhere I went on the way home....

I loved watching Sammy Terry on channel four when I was a kid. I was playing around on the web a month or so ago and found the website for the show,
http://www.sammyterrynightmares.com/ I swear this show looked scarier when I was younger though.

Oh yes! This brought back some really cool memories for me. I can remember kicking back with my mom on the couch and eating ice cream with hot chocolate pudding poured over it, with a comforter over us, and watching the original "Night of the Living Dead." I was enthralled! It must have made a lasting impression, 'cause I have the entire Romero "Living Dead" series on DVD now

Yeah, I seen the original "Night of the Living Dead" at a drive in when I lived in Southern California. I could not watch the movie at all and fortunately it was on after the main feature so we left.

When I was a kid in the 80s my dad would watch Dr. Who, and it kinda freaked me out. Also one time there was a movie on tv about some aliens or somthing that would turn people into freaky robots that would go around killing people. There was one guy whose quest was to kill all the robots. I think it was set in the rural midwest.
The theme song to Reading Rainbow was scary, too.

I can't remember any scarey movies from my childhood. I can remember being very scared of the dark.
I was once cycling home from my Dad's place to my Mum's one night in winter. It was about 5 miles if I went the well lit route, or 2 if I took a shortcut down a dark footpath.
I used to get up a good bit of speed as I approached the footpath at the end of a road so I was in the dark for as short a time as possible. It was less than 1/4 mile but only had lights at each end. At the time it felt so much longer.
On this particular occasion I had a really good speed going, pumping the pedals in the highest gear I could. I got about half way, to the darkest point, and someone/something emerged from the bushes!
I just stuck my right arm out straight and pedalled harder. There was contact and I wobbled badly. The strange figure flew back into the bushes and I continued on my way, breathing hard.
The last part of the journey home was done at record pace and I was shaking when I got home.
When I thought about it after I could imagine the local newspaper headlines:
Man assaulted in dark alley when walking dog
Whoever you were, I'm really sorry.

We had "Creature Features" in Chicago on WGN every Saturday Night. My Dad would watch it and their intro would always scare us, but good!
