receding hairline
« on: September 28, 2008, 11:09:35 PM »
im 20 years old and ive been shaving my head for about 2 months now. the whole reason i started shaving my head in the first place was because i started to get a REALLY bad receding hairline (im talking airplane runway hairline haha) but anyways. after i shave my head i still have a dark shadow of my receding hairline and it bugs me. its depressing because it almost seems pointless to still shave my head. i guess i do it because its not AS noticeable as when i have hair.

i know theres nothing i can do while shaving so theres no shadow, but does anyone know if theres anything i can do to at least cover the shadow up some? or at least give me a little confidence booster about the whole situation lol. cuz having the visible receding shadow is almost the same thing as keeping my head of hair thats receding it seems. should i keep shaving it or just grow it back? im just wondering what you guys think. thanks.

P.S. i also cant stand guys who shave their heads when they have a full thick head of hair lol. if i had more hair i prolly wouldnt shave mine off lol.

Yeah, there's not much you can do with the shadow. But the good news is, probably no one is really noticing it but you. Chill and enjoy your freedom from the tyranny of hair.

Well, you probably can't stand me...I'm bald by choice...full head (but not thick) of hair..

don't you dig how cool a bald head looks?

Anyways the only thing that might help is stage makeup (like Michael Rosenbalm does for Smallville)..

OR I would get it lasered off totally bald if I was  real pronounced MPB..

but that's just me ;)

Anyways BALD is always better looking than BALDING...even with a horseshoe shadow...

so keep it smooth dude...

Welcome to the fold my bald bro!

I wouldn't sweat it too much Ghost1988.
I was thinking of ways to get rid of the shadow as well, but to date I haven't had anyone say....Hey I see that shadow there fella. You really are balding aren't you!!! Just keep your routine up. I think maybe getting a little sun on you dome will help some. I guess if it REALLY bugged you, you could try spray paint.  :D
Remember to never take my advice seriously (unless I'm being serious) and you'll do alright.

Hi Ghost. O0

From the look of your avatar pic your hairline is about like mine, so I would say you pretty much have shaved a 'full head of hair', as I'm just receding a little bould wouldnt say I had MPB. ;)

It doesnt really matter as long as you dig whatever you do: looks good and that's all that matters: but loads of us on here have actually shaved a full head of hair out of choice. :)

Ok, now that I see your bald mug I gotta say..

bro it looks great on ya, very athletic look...and I'm sure it sets you apart a bit with your age group..

which is a plus..believe me..get used to it and you will love it (over hair..trust me)..

I've been bald by choice for 15 years now bro..and no regrets and no lack of life..

in fact I think it helps you live much larger than you would with hair..

you'll get THAT too!

Keep it smooth brutha, the bald head looks great! O0

when you start to go grey/white, like me, the shadow really becomes much less noticable.  But that will probably take a few years for you.

You look good bald; but i can see your annoyance with that shadow.  I had thought that with a really good razor you could get rid of a dark shadow; but maybe you have to shave twice a day for it to stay totally smooth.

maybe if you tried a new razor it would cut down the shadow.  I use Gillette Fusion.  Any other suggestions on this one?

thanks all. i appreciate the feedback. its not a very good avatar pic of me though because its kinda from the side. ill look for a pic where its the front view of me. the receding hairline looks a lot thinner and further back from the front view. anyways.....i guess im not as concerned with the shadow anymore after hearing some feedback although i agree with the guy that said i could use a tan haha. i have REALLY fair skin so thats a big reason my shadows darker than most im sure. ill try to tan that bad boy up and it should take care of the prob.

well.....i just got done running so im gonna go shave the head then take a shower (its been 3 days thats unnaceptable for me haha). ill talk to you all later.

Welcome Ghost!!!  Some noggins have to be seasoned, especially those of us with fair skin.  Get a little sun, slowly with sun screen.  The shadow is no big deal.

This is an interesting thread because What I have been observing from people who are on the fence is that when they finally do make the decision to go sly it is always cited as a relief.  I think that is key because it signifies going from "worried about what people think" to "not worried about what people think".  Once you make the decision it should mean that you have jumped the hurdle and are comfortable in your own skin.  I learned a long time ago you can't live your life worried about what other people think .. especially when it comes to the way you look.  It'll drive you crazy because you will never be attractive to absolutely everybody on the planet or even to a small percentage of them.  being sly gives you confidence.
