Something that happened at work
« on: September 26, 2008, 12:47:59 PM »
At lunch last night (I work second shift - 3:30 - Midnight) as I walked to my table to eat, I saw one of my coworkers looking at me as I passed. This guy has the serious horseshoe thing going on - kind of a fringe of long, stringy hair that starts just above his ears and hangs down like....strange drapes. I'm not trying to be unkind here, but to describe what the guy looks like.
Anyhow, I smiled and nodded as I passed, and thought "He's probably pondering my slyness and wondering how it'd look on him." and it was all I could do not to turn to him and say "Brother, just get rid of that little bit that's left and go sly!" O0

Any of you ever have to fight this same urge?

I fight that urge all the time.....there is one guy in particular that I see almost on a daily basis that has a horseshoe with a comb over that is only about 3 inches wide and about 8 inches long....and the thing is....he is a professional person with suit and tie and looks hideous....I would like to cut his hair myself if I could get away with it....he would look so much better if someone could only convince him to shave the dam* thing.....I don't know him well enough to talk to him about it....but who knows.....maybe someday.....

I see it all the time. If anything, when I see a shoe or hideous comb over I think it makes me stand taller and I might even smile a little.

I see more and more sly folks every day. The way things are going, I think the movement will do all the talking for us. Soon people will be shaving their heads just to fit in.

I had a business dealing with someone just like you described about 3 years ago.  I meet with this man almost everyday for 10 days straight. I bit my tongue at every meeting I had with him, sometimes wondering if I was going to draw blood. I kept my mouth shut till one day he made the comment that he needed to leave the meeting early because he needed to go to the "Hair Stylist".  I just mentioned, as I packed up the Blue prints and revisions, that if he were to shave his head like I do, he could forget about going to the barber forever. After his kitchen and bathrooms were remodeled, I never saw him again till about 6 months ago.......He was as Sly as we are now.  He loves it and his wife is crazy about it.......... O0

He still owes me a lunch he promised me, maybe I need to call him?

I was told to think outside the box, how did I get in the box in the first place?

Yeah .... I try to hold the tongue.....not always my strong suit.

But if I see a guy staring, I'll look at him and say, "Dude, it rocks! Give it a try!".

Yeah man, hah, I did that and didn't even realize I was rubbing it.

Whatever influence we seem to give, consciously or subconsciously, it's apparently converting people like a virus. I predict next summer will be a sly record breaker in the U.S..
