Babb, sorry to hear about your tragic loss.  My prayers for you and your brother.  My cousins lost their mom, dad, and two grandparents in the space of a year.   The way he got through it was to rely on one another and other members of the family for support.  That and their strong faith got them through it.

I lost my dad when I was 13. My mom scared us all last year when she was diagnosed with Ovarian cancer, but fortunately, she has been cancer free for a year now after undergoing surgery and 6 months of chemo. I understand what your going through, and will keep you in our prayers.

Babb,
I am sure your girlfriend means well and is sharing in your pain. Women like to talk things out, its just their nature, and most guys reflect from within and need time to process. There is no right or wrong answers and emotions will effect you in different ways. Stay open to the ones close to you, as others have said you need each other through this difficult time.

Sorry to hear about your loss, babb. Always a tough situation, but you have to hang in there. Stay close with family and talk things through, rely on memories.

Thoughts and a prayer for you and your family.

babb4214,

I feel your pain bro, I also lost my dad just a few short years ago. I was a long haul truck driver at that point in time and I remember waveing goodbye to him as I headed out on my usual trip. It was the next day when I arrived at my destination and I decided to do some shopping for my dads birthday, as it was the following day. I called my wife at home to see if she had already picked him up something and to see about makeing plans for some sort of party when I got back home, only to be told that he had collapsed at work that morning and passed away. He was my best friend, and I miss him alot.
My point is I dont think that you'll ever get over it, however its something that we have to accept. We are all here for you, I know it sounds like an old cleché but remember all the good times that you had together, and when times get tough, we'll be here to help.

Sorry if I rambled on.

My heart really goes out to you and your family, bud. I understand how it goes all to well - I lost my dad when I was in my mid 20's and my mom a few years later. If I can "be there" for you in any way, please send me a PM, and I'll get back to you ASAP.
