« on: September 12, 2008, 10:25:16 AM »
hello fellow chrome domes:  this topic was discussed at work the other day.  i'll start: well... about a month or two ago... i went 2 the dentist.  while i was in the waiting room... i just grabbed a sports magazine & texted a few of my friends on the cell while in the waiting room.

so... how 'bout U?  what things U do in the waiting room?  what's your story?

I used to hate waiting in the waiting room at the doctor's or dentist's office, but not anymore.  I actually get a lot of work done while I'm waiting, by answering e-mails on my Blackberry.  The 10-15 minute wait that used to make me angry goes by really fast now.

That reminds me of the time I was at the ER with my daughter and this guy was on his blackberry.  He was there before we were and it seemed like we were there forever.  When they finally called his name he looked at the nurse and said...Tell them I will be right there i have a few emails to get done.  The nurse said Sir you need to come now...he said why?  you make us wait. LOL
He got some pretty nasty looks from everyone there including my wife...and someone said JUST GO SO WE CAN GET IN! LOL

I usually read magazines..

I hit on the receptionist.  Then I sit in the corner and read magazines after I get shot down in flames.

Hospitals in the UK don't let you use cellphones.  Some have devices to prevent signals.  They claim that this is so that the signal does not interfere with delicate medical equipment.  Some of us think that this is just to make you use there very expensive telephone facilities.
It really depends on the waiting room, and why I'm there.  A couple of weeks ago I got into a Readers Digest story at the dentist when I went for a checkup.  They had to come and poke me because they'd been calling for ages and I didn't notice.
I rarely go to see a doctor.  Last time I went I sat in the waiting room trying to guess which door I'd have to go through to see the right doctor.  I don't think I've ever seen the same one twice at our practice - there's about 8 of them.

I hate waiting when I go to the Drs or Dentist. It makes the anxiety of being there much worse. I have an aquaintance who has such high anxiety when going to the dentist they don't make her wait at all. The Dentist knows about her anxiety and she gets to walk in the door and right to the chair with no questions asked. But anyway, I usually read magazines or talk to the other people that are waiting.
