I realize that this is a feature built into the forum software, but here is my issue with it. It's all well and good if you know people and know their e-mail addresses to use the referral link and get credit for site hits and membership credits, however there are many times this is just impractical or impossible.
For instance, if I'm out at public functions giving out Sly Bald Guy cards to total strangers I'd like a way to track back the effectiveness of this practice. If instead of/or in addition to using the referral link there was an entry field for Referred By "UserName", then I'd have some idea of new guys being brought to the site by my efforts.
Just my software background trying to improve/enhance the system.
