Those are Hogue Mono Grips

Almost looks like the $&W Schofield.

Think back to the movie Dirty Harry where he used a S&W 29 with a 6.5" barrel

It is a very nice shooter, and will make a great handgun hunting partner.

Had the pleasure of shooting one a while back.

I'll admit, I had butterflies in my stomach at first...

ONE HELLUVA KICK...... it was an adrenalin rush  :D

The nice thing is that you can load from mild to wild or in between.

With the light 44 loads it really is a pussy cat to shoot, and helps one to work on accuracy since that is what counts.  I have carried and shot differant .44 Magnum revolvers for years, and love a good double action .44 Magnum over the Single Actions.  I found shooting the Desert Eagle Semi Auto to be so heavy that it just wasn't fun to shoot.  The only one I haven't shot was the AMT Auto Mag in .44 AMP which is now out of production anyway.

I agree....The City of Albany PD just switched from their old .40 cal Smith and Wesson which the company stopped making. They chose to go with the SIG Sauer P226 .357 for the better penetrating power and a tad more expensive also.

The Montana Highway Patrol has been carrying the Sig P226 now since 05 and every Trooper I've spoken with really likes it for it's penitrating power.

Hey J_B, are you going to break that thing in and use it this hunting season?

:*)) When I read the topic, and saw 629 My first thought was "Go ahead, make my day." :*))

And I think you'll have a great time shooting it! With those Hogue Grips you'll have an easy time keeping ahold of it, and a good set of grips helps tremendously with felt recoil (speaking from experience here, I had a 7 1/2" Redhawk .44 mag with Pachmyr Grippers, a tremendous improvement over the stock Ruger grips.) I shouldn't think muzzle flip would be too bad with a 6" barrel, but if it is, you could always get the barrel ported. It's hard to go wrong with a S&W revolver, that's a dang nice gun, and should serve you well for many years! O0
